After 2 months launching the 2023 Red Journey blood donation programme (from 1
June to 31 July), Bac Giang province has organized 4 voluntary blood donation
festivals attracting nearly 3,500 participants. The campaign has received 4,560
safe blood units, meeting the criteria of the Ministry of Health and exceeding
52 percent against the plan (3,000 units).
All of the blood units were delivered to the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and Viet Duc Hospital (Vietnam-Germany Friendship Hospital) to serve emergency and patient treatment.

The Red Journey programme is a voluntary blood donation campaign across Vietnam co-hosted by the National Steering Committee for voluntary blood donation, National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and Vong Tay Viet Humanity Joint Stock Company (VTV Corp) since 2013 with an aim to deal with shortage of blood in summer and help the health sector to guarantee caring and protecting the people’s health.
This year, the programme has attracted participation of 46 provinces and cities and received over 115,000 blood units.
This is the 10th year Bac Giang province carried out this programme. The blood donation result has increased year on year, making significant contribution to the success of voluntary blood donation in the province and enhancing community’s awareness of the importance of humanitarian blood donation.

Bac Giang receives 15,000 safe blood units
(BGO) – In the first six months, the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation
(Steering Committee) in Bac Giang province cooperated with local organizations,
agencies and schools to launch 21 voluntary blood donation events which
attracted 11,626 turns of donors and received 15,000 safe blood units, accounting
for 93.7 percent of 2023 target (757 units higher than the same period last
year).

organize “Red blood campaign” and “Red Journey programme” in 2023.
Bac Giang appeals to donate nearly 11,000 blood units
(BGO) - For the first three months of this year, the
Steering Committee for voluntary blood donation (VBD) in Bac Giang province has
cooperated with local organizations, agencies and schools to launch 14 VBD
events and receive 10,753 safe blood units in line with the Minstry of Health’s
standard (accounting for 59.7 percent of 2023 target), reported the provincial
Red Cross Society.
