Accordingly, 5,000 members and older persons in rural and difficult areas had their health checked to detect some common eye diseases such as cataract, ocular fundus diseases, conjunctivitis and keratitis.

Also, they were provided with consultation and instruction about suitable practising methods and living regime to protect the eyes. Besides, each older person was presented a set of tonic.

The programme is among the annual event jointly launched by Song Thuong General Hospital and the provincial Association for the Elderly since 2009 to hold examination and consultation on eye diseases.

This year, 1.1 billion VND (47,500 USD) was mobilized to organize the health checkup programme to consult on eye diseases to more than 15,000 older people in the province, helping improve their health and gradually enhance the living quality.
