90 “Dream on the wings” scholarships granted to impoverished children

(BGO) – The provincial Association for Protection of Children’s Rights (PACR), Bac Giang Newspaper and Association of Study Encouragement on September 6 coordinated to hand over the scholarships under the 5th “Dream on the wings” Programme 2020.  

90 scholarships were presented to impoverished students in Bac Giang city and the districts of Yen Dung, Son Dong and Luc Ngan, each consisting of cash or bicycle, notebooks, pen, candies, face masks worth 1.2 million VND (52 USD). Total value hit some 140 million VND (6,000 USD) donated by the organization, enterprises and kind-hearted people in and outside the province.

Due to the impact of Covid-19 pandemic, this year the Organization Board did not hold a concentrated presenting event as previous year but handed over the gifts and scholarships to poor students directly at the districts and city.

Speaking at the event, Duong Thi Loi, Chairwoman of PACR expressed her thanks for the recent donations from the organization, enterprises and kind-hearted people in and outside the province. Thousands of children in the province have been supported and granted with scholarships with total amount of over 3.6 billion VND (156,100 USD) for the past 5 years that helped them get more chance of study to overcome the life challenges.

In 2020, the Organization Board of the programme receives the support from more than 40 organization, agencies, enterprises, volunteer groups and philanthropists in and outside the province with total value of cash and kind of 300 million VND (13,000 USD).

As schedule, the Organization Board will hold another event to hand over scholarship to poor students in the districts of Lang Giang, Viet Yen, Tan Yen, Yen The, Luc Nam and Hiep Hoa on the upcoming September 13.
