Bac Giang bags 2 prizes at National Science and Technology Contest

(BGO)- Both projects of Bac Giang team won prizes at the National Science and Technology Contest for high school students in academic year 2019-2020 which was jointly held by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and the People’s Committee in the Central city of Da Nang from 19 to 20 June.

Particularly, the project “Researching and applying nanomaterials to create flame retardant nanocomposite with polyurethane and polycarbonate/acrylonitrile butadiene styrene for use in civil construction and industry” by the group of authors Le Ngoc Minh and Nguyen Bao Trung, students of Viet Yen High School No.1 won second prize.

Group of inventors Nguyen Ngoc Minh and Le Thu Thao in Tran Phu Junior High School (Bac Giang city) wins third prize at the contest.

The third prize came to the project “Creating air filter using absorbent material from coir added with antibacterial silver nanomaterial” by the group of authors Nguyen Ngoc Minh and Le Thu Thao, students of Tran Phu Junior High School in Bac Giang city.

There were total 11 first prizes, 16 second prizes, 21 third prizes and 27 fourth prizes at the contest. The contest this year lured participation of 67 units including education and training departments and MOET’s affiliated units with 137 projects and 253 students.

Of which, there were 120 projects of senior high school students and 17 projects of junior high school students. According to the contest rules, junior high school students with scientific projects were permitted to compete with the senior high school group.

Bac Giang team was highly evaluated by the organizing board with both projects winning prizes including 1 project from junior high school students, exceeding the set target. Previously, these projects won first prizes at the provincial Science and Technology Contest for high school students in the academic year 2019-2020.
