Bac Giang encourages businesses to join e-commerce platforms

Updated: 08:54, 23/11/2023
BAC GIANG - Bac Giang authorities have always paid attention to developing e-commerce, especially in enterprises. The province strives to have 60% of businesses participate in e-commerce platforms by 2025 and use e-commerce applications to search for information and markets. 50% of businesses are expected to have their own websites to promote their brands and products.

Along with promoting communications and training online business skills for stakeholders, by the end of October 2023, the whole province had nearly 113,800 businesses, cooperatives, and households connected and supported to create accounts and conduct transactions on domestic and foreign e-commerce platforms such as Voso.vn, Postmart.vn, Sendo.vn, San24h.vn, Shopee.vn, Lazada.vn, and Alibaba.com.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, since 2021, the unit has coordinated with districts and Bac Giang city to support 15 businesses in building online brand identities and creating booths, and provide them with product promotion and selling skills.

The Department of Planning and Investment has received proposals to financially support the rent and purchase of digital transformation solutions for 13 businesses. It has helped more than 1,500 organizations and individuals successfully create business registration accounts on the national business registration information system.

Among the businesses supported by the Department of Industry and Trade is Tri Viet Joint Stock Company in Bac Giang city. This enterprise is currently the official distributor of A. O. Smith water purifiers, An Cuong wood furniture, Toto and Inax kitchen and sanitary equipment with more than 500 types of products. In 2014, the unit was supported by the Department of Industry and Trade to build the website Noithattriviet.vn. It was provided with supply chain management software in 2020 and helped to bring products to e-commerce platforms like Lazada and Shopee.

In its first days of operation, the company only had customers from Bac Giang city and surrounding areas so revenue was low. "Since joining the e-commerce platforms, the company has "covered" its products in many provinces and cities such as Lang Son, Thai Nguyen, Hai Duong, Hanoi and Nghe An. Our revenue tripled from 27.9 billion VND ($1.15 million) in 2019 to 76.9 billion VND in 2022 and continue to increase this year," said a representative of Tri Viet Joint Stock Company.

Thanks to support from the authorities and the efforts of stakeholders, e-commerce in Bac Giang has developed rapidly, helping many businesses change methods and improve production capacity and competitiveness and adapt to domestic and regional digital economic development trends, especially in the context that Vietnam has joined and signed many free trade agreements (FTAs).

Recognizing the importance of e-commerce for production and business activities, over the past time, many businesses in the province have approached and participated in e-commerce.

To continue implementing solutions and activities to support and promote the widespread application of e-commerce in local businesses and communities, on December 18, 2020, the Chairman of the provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 2509/QD-UBND approving the e-commerce development plan of Bac Giang province for the 2021-2025 period.

Accordingly, the province aims to have 60% of businesses participate in e-commerce platforms by 2025 and use e-commerce applications to search for information and markets. 50% of businesses are expected to have their own websites to promote their brands and products.
