Bac Giang ensures goods supply for Tet

Updated: 15:36, 08/01/2025

BAC GIANG – As the Lunar New Year (Tet) approaches, consumer demand for commodities increases sharply, putting pressure on prices and the supply of goods. To address this situation, the industry and trade sector and businesses in Bac Giang province have strengthened measures to stabilize the market, ensuring the availability of essential goods at reasonable prices.

At several markets and supermarkets in Bac Giang province, such as Thuong Market (Bac Giang city), Nenh Market (Viet Yen township), GO! Bac Giang Supermarket and Co.opmart (Bac Giang city), and The City Luc Nam Supermarket, supplies of goods ranging from food and beverages to fashion, household items, and electronics have been stocked in large quantities by businesses and traders.

Local residents shop at GO! Bac Giang Supermarket.

Most of the products have not seen price hikes and are offered with discounts.

Duong Thi Van Nga, Executive Director of GO! Bac Giang Supermarket, shared that the supermarket currently offers about 25,000 product codes and has prepared 130 billion VND (5.12 million USD) worth of goods, a 10% year-on-year increase, to meet the shopping needs of local people during the Lunar New Year.

Although sales have started to rise slightly since the New Year holiday, Nga forecast that this year's demand will not "explode" like in the years before the Covid-19 pandemic, as residents are still facing financial difficulties.

Nguyen Quang Thong, Executive Director of The City Luc Nam Supermarket, reported that the supermarket's sales have increased by about 20% compared to normal days.

He expected a 5% expansion in revenue for Tet. Over 10,200 products at the supermarket are offered at stable prices until the last day of the holiday.

To ensure the supply of essential goods before, during and after Tet (from December 2024 to February 2025), the province’s agricultural sector has produced around 229,000 tonnes of vegetables and fruits, nearly 95,000 tonnes of livestock, poultry, and aquatic products, and 85,000 tonnes of rice.

These figures represent an increase of 5-10% from the same period in 2024. With this output, the supply of food and essentials will fully meet the needs of the local population.

Livestock products are also distributed to neighbouring provinces and cities such as Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, and Lang Son. Processed food items, as well as candy, electronic goods, dry and canned foods are in abundant supply with price hikes of 4-10%.

Petrol and gas suppliers have proactively signed contracts with wholesalers to ensure a continuous and stable supply for retail outlets, serving the production and consumption needs of businesses and residents.

The efforts to stabilize the market at the end of the year not only help ensure the supply and stable prices of goods but also demonstrate the attention and responsibility of both authorities and businesses towards the well-being of residents.

With coordinated efforts in management, production, and distribution, people can rest assured in preparing for a complete and meaningful Lunar New Year celebration.
