During implementation, BAFU’s teachers and technical staffs of Tan Yen district have regularly supervised and guided the households to follow bio-safety breeding process. According to the evaluation, after 5 months, the chickens have reached high survival rate with good resistance. The average weight of hens ranges from 2 to 2.2 kilos while cocks reach 2.6 to 2.8 kilos. This model yields higher economic efficiency by 10 to 15 percent compared to the traditional breeding method.
“In line with the support with 70 percent of the breeds’ price and 70 percent of the animal feed including bran, vaccines and disinfectants, we vaccinated the chickens following the procedures as being trained. Compared to other breeds of chicken, Luong Phuong hybrid bantam grows faster with good resistance, firm flesh and good taste”, said Pham Thi Manh in Hoa Son residential group, one of the 6 households participating in Luong Phuong hybrid bantam farming model.
Currently, Bac Giang has a total flock of 18 million chickens, among the provinces with biggest chicken flock nationwide.
