Bac Giang improves quality of tourism human resources
Fixing weaknesses
According to statistics, currently Bac Giang is home to nearly 1,800 people working in the tourism sector, coming from different backgrounds. There are nearly 50 businesses engaging in travel services and about 380 accommodation establishments, of which more than 90 percent are inns and the rest are one-and two-star hotels.

Despite initial results, relevant agencies and experts assessed that the quality of tourism human resources in the province remains poor.
Luc Ngan district is a locality boasting great potential for tourism development with landmarks such as Khuon Than Lake, Cam Son Lake and the largest fruit tree area in the North, covering nearly 30,000 hectares.
Recently, many groups of tourists from the province and beyond have come to experience in Khuon Than and Cam Son Lakes, but at each site there are only 3-5 boats invested by people from Son Hai and Cam Son communes, with each accommodating 15-20 visitors.
When coming here, visitors stroll around the lake and if they need, the boat owners will provide food but serve only a small number due to insufficient food supplies and lack of manpower.
Notably, despite being the well-known relic sites, Vinh Nghiem Pagoda (Yen Dung), Suoi Mo Ecotourism Area (Luc Nam), Xuong Giang Victory special national relic site (Bac Giang city), and Bo Da Pagoda (Viet Yen) have no tour guides who know foreign languages.
Increasing professionalism
In order to improve service quality, many travel businesses have paid attention to training human resources in a professional manner. For example, at the Tay Yen Tu spiritual and ecological tourist area (Son Dong district), there are about 80 employees.
To further improve the quality of tourism human resources, it is necessary to implement many synchronous solutions. Party committees, authorities, authorised agencies and enterprises need to participate more actively in the work, step by step improving the quality of manpower, tourism services, and branding to create competitiveness, thus meeting the needs of travelers. |
The Yen Dung golf course has nearly 200 employees equipped with knowledge related to tourism service business. Hotels such as Muong Thanh, Ravatel Inn and Ravatel Home (Bac Giang city) and a number of tour operators in the province also have relatively professional tourism management and operation methods, especially reception, bar, cuisine and tourist shuttle services.
However, in order to further improve the quality of tourism human resources, it is necessary to implement many synchronous solutions. Party committees, authorities, authorised agencies and enterprises need to participate more actively in the work, step by step improving the quality of manpower, tourism services, and branding to create competitiveness, thus meeting the needs of travelers.
Nguyen Van Ngoc, head of the Tourism Management Division under the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that in the coming time, based on the needs, the department will continue building human resources training plans and organizing classes taught by reputable lecturers and travel experts to improve tourism skills, foreign languages and information technology for those concerned.
In addition to state management agencies, the coordination of relevant units and sectors plays an important role in improving the quality of human resources.

Luu Xuan San, Vice Chairman of the Bac Giang provincial Tourism Association, said that the association now has 80 members. With its functions and duties, the association will provide optimal conditions for members to study, exchange and share experience in tourism service provision with other provinces, cities and some countries.
Along with the above solutions, there should be a mechanism to encourage businesses and people to participate in tourism more, especially community tourism. It is also necessary to step up the promotion and calling for investment in building typical tourism products, contributing to boosting the province's tourism development.
