Bac Giang improves training of talented students
In 2023, Bac Giang students joined many Vietnamese excellent student teams participating in international competitions. They included three from the Bac Giang High School for the Gifted participating in the Olympiads in Physics and Chemistry, the most ever.

Among them, Giap Vu Son Ha won a silver medal at the Abu Reikhan Beruniy International Chemistry Olympiad; Than The Cong bagged a bronze medal at the Asian Physics Olympiad; and Truong Phi Hung pocketed a silver medal at the European Physics Olympiad (EuPhO). In particular, Cong continues to be selected by the Ministry of Education and Training to join the 2024 team for the International Physics Olympiad.
Since Bac Giang province was re-established in 1997, this was the first year the province had recorded the largest number of students winning medals. This result continued to affirm the attention and right investment of the province and its education sector in selecting and nurturing talents and instilling a passion for learning in students.
These high achievements confirmed the efforts of schools, students and teachers. With the role of training and fostering excellent students, the Bac Giang High School for the Gifted has constantly innovated and improved the quality of teaching and learning.
Principle Tran Duy Phuong said: "Every year, the school implements a plan to select, foster, and early discover students with outstanding abilities when they are in Grade 10. The school assigns training tasks to experienced, capable, and dedicated teachers. Specialised groups develop in-depth training plans and choose appropriate teachers to promote the abilities of each student”.
Since its establishment in 1991, the school has had 11 students winning medals at international competitions and those in Asia and Europe. Among those are Trinh Duy Hieu, with silver medal in the 2018 International Physics Olympiad, a gold medal in the 2018 Asian Physics Olympiad, a silver medal in the 2019 International Physics Olympiad and a silver medal in the 2019 Asian Physics Olympiad; and Le Ngoc Son, who bagged a silver medal at the 2007 International Mathematics Olympiad.

In recent years, all members of the province's team of excellent students for national competitions have come from the school, with achievements improving year-on-year. In 2023, the team was among the top eight nationwide in the number of first prizes and 12th in the total number of prizes.
In all subjects and educational levels, Bac Giang has gradually formed a team of core teachers with good expertise, enthusiasm, effective application of information technology in teaching, and skills in imparting knowledge. They are role models for self-study, self-training and creativity.
In recent years, the province's talent training has seen many important achievements, contributing to raising people's knowledge, fostering talents, and training increasingly qualified human resources for the cause of national industrialization and modernization.
