Bac Giang opens markets to consume orange, pomelo and key farm produce

(BGO) – The People’s Committee in Bac Giang province (PPC) on November 11 chaired and cooperated with the Ministries of Industry and Trade (MoIT), Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) to launch teleconference about consumption of orange, pomelo, local key and signature farm produce with ten bridge points  in Bac Giang and major one in Luc Ngan district. It was live on Bac Giang Television chanel.

Besides, the event was linked to four central bridge points, one foreign one in China and hundreds of points in supermarkets, wholesale markets, distribution chanels, businesses, trade persons consuming farm produce in several provices and cities of Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh and adjacent ones.

Agriculture is attached to tourism and culture

Addressing the teleconference, PPC Vice Chairman Phan The Tuan pressed that Bac Giang boasts huge potentials for agriculture development with diverse fruit groups, various signature and famous farm produce, especially lychee. The province also raises big herd of castle and poultry, helping secure top five leading provinces nationwide in pig and chicken farming.

Now it is harvest time for orange, pomelo and several local farm produce. The province committed to creating best possible favourable conditions to support people, business and traders to harvest, process, transport and consume orange, pomelo, custard apple, pork and chicken meat.

In late 2021 and Lunar New Year 2022, Bac Giang will supply many farm produce to the market, including about 48,000 tonnes of orange; 37,000 tonnes of pomelo; 4,000 tonnes of custard apples safely grown under VietGAP with clear origin traceability; 17,000 tonnes of chicken meat and 60,000 tonnes of pork.

Besides, the province has vast area of vegetable for processing and safe vegetable reaching to over 11,000 ha with productivity of over 230,000 tonnes which are enough to supply to farm produce processing factories, supermarkets in and outside the province as well as export.

He expressed that in the upcoming time Bac Giang will orient to develop agriculture in attachement with tourism service and culture. Currently many domestic and foreign investors as well as travel agencies have paid due attention to survey and invest to the province.

On the occasion, Bac Giang proposed the MARD, MoIT and Ministry of Science and Technology to continue negotiating with competent bodies in China and other countries owning potential markets to accelerate the official export of provincial key farm produce; timely inform about technical barrier when exporting fresh and processed agricultural products; direct competent agencies to research and apply technology in preserving and processing after harvest.

Besides, the ministries should guide Bac Giang province about quality management, origin traceability, growing area codes to ensure consumption condition at current distribution systems and export while assisting the province to introduce and promote key products to domestic and foreign markets.

The province also proposed the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to orient the tourism development in Bac Giang province in general and experimental tourism in connection to fruit area in particular so as to suit to national tourism programme, inter-regional and inter-provincial tourism; assist the province to introduce and promote local landscapes, cultural tourism sites to prestigious travel agencies to create suitable tourism products; promote local tourism to domestic and foreign markets.

Committing on quality, diversifying product distribution channels

Concluding the event, PPC Chairman Le Anh Duong pressed that the teleconference is one of the activities to specify the determination of the Party, authority and people in Bac Giang province to realize the dual target, indicate the thorough instruction from the leaders of the Party, Government, central ministries as well as the responsible assistance and accompany from friend provinces and cities, especially business, entrepreneur, press agencies to key and signature agriculture products of the province.

The provincial leader emphasized that the teleconference has gained several result, one of which is that the businesses, organizations and agencies at the bridge points across the nation have cooperated with the Department of Industry and Trade in Bac Giang province to ink memorandum of understanding to consume local orange, pomelo and key farm produce in 2021.

It helped open up wide operative prosperity to bring orange, pomelo, key and signature agriculture products of Bac Giang to domestic and foreign markets.

On this occasion, 57 agreements relating to farm produce consumption have been inked.
