Bac Giang prevents Covid-19 from local areas

(BGO) – Though Covid-19 pandemic is controlled in Bac Giang province, it has complicatedly developed in several provinces, especially Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh cities. The sectors and localities have focused on several measures to prevent the disease from local transmission.

Controlling infection source from the entrance

There is high density of transportation vehicle on the provincial road No.398 passing Yen Dung bridge. To control the disease, the Steering Board for Covid-19 Prevention and Control in Yen Dung district (Steering Board) re-established the disease control station at the section below the bridge from July 24.

The competent forces inspect vehicles in and out Hiep Hoa district at the Covid-19 control station in Vat bridge, Hop Thinh commune.

According to Major Duong Van Tu, public security staff in Yen Lu commune on duty at the station on July 27, there were about 6,000 – 7,000 turns of vehicles passing from Que Vo district (Bac Ninh province) to Yen Dung district every day, mostly people from Hanoi city, Hai Duong and Bac Ninh provinces. To curb the pandemic, the staff on duty at the station requested any case entering the district to show the PCR test result negative to SARS-CoV-2 within 72 hours.

The province has 5 disease control stations to supervise people entering the local areas set up at the routes with many travellers from Hanoi city, including Hiep Hoa, Yen Dung districts and Bac Giang city. At these points, the commuters are requested to make health declaration and inform about the expected destinations. The health workers present at some points to take sample for rapid test (charged) to facilitate the people to safely pass the station. The commuter is allowed to pass certain stations after showing the PCR test result negative to novel coronavirus within 72 hours.

At the same time, all localities have paid due attention to reviewing returners from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh cities and pandemic hit areas.

So far, Bac Giang province has reviewed and imposed quarantine and health monitor to nearly 2,200 returners from Hanoi (July 18), 598 from Ho Chi Minh city and over 2,100 from other localities (June 30).

Particularly after detecting the disease spot in Hanoi Lung Hospital, the province quickly reviewed and detected 5 patients returning from the hospital from July 12 to Hiep Hoa, Lang Giang, Yen Dung districts and Bac Giang city. 2 patients are now put in centralized quarantine and 3 at home.

Preventing disease resurgence

Tu Quoc Hieu, Director of the provincial Health Department and Vice Head of the provincial Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control (Steering Committee) shared: “Any returner from pandemic hit areas in Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi cities to province will be imposed centralized quarantine while the case returning from other areas of two above mentioned cities must make health declaration, take self isolation at home and take sample for test”.

Defining disease prevention and control as the regular and long term task, the provincial Steering Committee instructed all levels, sectors, districts and city to highly determine to keep the area safe, effectively implement the “dual target” with first priority taken to disease combat to prevent the negligence and satisfaction with the gained result.

The districts and city requested the production facilities and businesses to review and seriously execute the disease prevention and control plan and programme in production. Each company must have health staff in charge of conducting regular test for labours once per week.

The departments, organization, unit, districts and city should prepare “4 on the spot” programme to timely and effectively respond to disease situation. The Department of Health was urged to continue buying spare materials, chemicals and bio products. As long term solution, the province will accelerate the schedule of vaccine purchase, follow 5K message and safely administer all vaccines distributed firstly to workers.
