Bac Giang promotes cooperation with foreign non-governmental organizations

(BGO) – The Bac Giang Department of Foreign Affairs has just coordinated with the People's Aid Coordinating Committee (Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations) in organizing a consultation meeting on promoting cooperation between foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and Bac Giang province.

In 2019, the provincial People's Committee has directed agencies and units responsible for the province's aid mobilization to proactively work with related agencies to meet and persuade a number of foreign NGOs to study the deployment of programnes and projects in the locality.

The provincial People's Committee has approved five new foreign NGO aid projects with a total committed value of 215,023 USD. The province now has 14 foreign NGO projects underway with a total committed aid of 1.39 million USD.

Promoting the role of agencies responsible for mobilizing foreign NGO aid, the provincial Department of Foreign Affairs has coordinated with other agencies in the province in organizing more than 30 meetings and working sessions with organizations such as LDSC, YWAM, KFHI...

Foreign NGOs and foreign-invested enterprises receive the Letter of Merit of the Chairman of the Bac Giang People's Committee.

Via these events, the parties have basically agreed on the signing of a memorandum of understanding on foreign NGO aid, typically the "Samsung Hope School" project implemented in Hiep Hoa district; and the "Clean water and environmental sanitation in Luc Ngan district" project...

Based on the actual needs of the province, in the period of 2020-2025, Bac Giang province will prioritize the mobilization of foreign NGO aid for 34 projects, focusing on five key areas: agriculture, forestry and rural development; health and people's health care; education and training; solving social problems; and clean water and environmental sanitation.

Exchanging at the meeting, representatives of foreign NGOs appreciated the active cooperation and support of the authorities of Bac Giang province, especially the Department of Foreign Affairs, which have created favorable conditions for the implementation of programmes and projects in the province. 

They proposed a number of fields that they can support such as: training teachers on life skills for students, helping to improve the quality of comprehensive education; building libraries at school venues; and Korean language training...

At the event, the representative of Department of Foreign Affairs presented the Letter of Merit of the Chairman of the Bac Giang People's Committee to 10 foreign NGOs and foreign-invested enterprises who have made many contributions to the local social security.
