Bac Giang ranks 9th in provincial digital transformation index
BAC GIANG - The Ministry of Information and Communications has just announced the 2023 Digital Transformation Index ranking for ministries, branches, centrally run provinces and cities. Bac Giang province continued to secure 9th position out of 63 provinces and cities.
According to the announcement, Bac Giang province had an average index score of 0.7366. In which, many component indexes were ranked in the group of 15 leading provinces and cities nationwide such as digital institutions (ranked 7th), digital economic activities (ranked 5th), digital social activities (ranked 13th).

Previously, in 2020 and 2021, Bac Giang province's digital transformation index (CDS) ranked 10th out of 63 provinces and cities and rose to 9th place in 2022.
These results were gained thanks to joint efforts of the provincial branches, sectors and departments. The provincial leader issued a plan to implement digital transformation synchronously, assigned departments and branches to promptly advise on plans to overcome low indicators.
The province built a database group on a digital platform; developed many convenient applications; supported nearly 500 newly established digital technology enterprises.
The departments, branches and localities actively applied cashless payments; supported business households, cooperatives and enterprises to put their products on e-commerce platforms.
The whole province established 209 commune-level community digital technology groups, 1,891 village-level community digital technology groups (reaching 100%) with about 16,000 members together with widespread propaganda and dissemination of digital skills.
Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Economy and Society Prasert Jantararuangtong said that participants at the 5th ASEAN Digital Ministers Meeting (ADGMIN) have agreed that online fraud and call centre gangs are urgent issues that require a collective effort to address.
BAC GIANG - Grasping the current development trend, Le Quang Dung (born in 1991), Director of BaGia Herbe Agricultural Cooperative in Phuong Son Ward (Chu Township of Bac Giang province) has actively applied digital technology to improve production and business efficiency, helping promote agricultural products, cultural identity and homeland landscapes.
The U.S. travel guide Travel Off Path has named Da Nang and Hoi An as two of the top five affordable destinations for digital nomads in Asia for 2025.
Party General Secretary To Lam has emphasised the need for more efforts to place Vietnam among the top three Southeast Asian countries for digital technology research and development by 2030, and form at least five major digital technology enterprises capable of competing internationally.
Entering 2025, Vietnam is gearing up to accomplish important goals in its digital transformation journey for economic development. Vietnam ranked 71st in the UN's e-government survey, up 15 spots from 2022. Fiber optic internet use surpassed 82%, and 87% of the population used smartphones. A major milestone was Viettel's launch of the largest data center. These developments lay a solid foundation for Vietnam's ongoing digital journey.
The Politburo's resolution on advancing science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation aims for sustainable development in these fields by 2045, positioning Vietnam as a high-income developed country.
