Bac Giang rewards coaches and athletes gaining outstanding achievements at SEA Games 32

(BGO)- The provincial People’s Committee of Bac Giang province on May 19 hosted a meeting to honour and reward coaches and athletes of Bac Giang province who won outstanding achievements at the 32nd SEA Games.

The 32nd SEA Games took place from 5 to 17 May in Cambodia. 6 athletes of the Sports Training and Competition Center of Bac Giang province were selected to participate in SEA Games 32

Permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Mai Son presents certificate of merit by Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee to the coaches and athletes.

When SEA Games 32 closed, Vietnam secured the top spot in the medal tally. This achievement was also contributed by Bac Giang athletes. Particularly, star runner Nguyen Thi Oanh bagged 4 gold medals, the first Vietnamese track and field athlete won 4 individual gold medals at a SEA Games event. Besides, athlete Pham Tien San bagged 1 gold medal at duathlon event (combining 5km running, 20km cycling and 2.5km running). Chess master Nguyen Quang Trung won 1 silver medal and 1 bronze medal at ouk chaktrang chess.

At the event, permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Mai Son presented certificate of merit by Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee to the 3 athletes winning medals and ouk chaktrang coach Giap Xuan Dinh, Vice Director of the provincial Sports Training and Competition Center who gained excellent achievements at SEA Games 32. The rewards for the athletes and coach worth total 150.130 million VND (6,404 USD) according to the regulation.

In addition, the provincial Youth Union awarded certificate of merit to the 3 athletes. Athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh was presented certificate of merit and reward by the provincial Women’s Union and her family was sponsored to build a new house worth 700 million USD (29,862 USD) by Fuji Bac Giang Development Joint Stock Company. Ha Do Joint Stock Company gifted 40 million VND (1,706 USD) to Nguyen Thi Oanh and 10 million VND (426 USD) to Pham Tien San and Pham Quang Trung.

(BGO) - "Excellent", "wonderful", "class is forever", "admiring you", "congratulations to the golden girl" are words expressing admiration, love and pride on social networks toward runner Nguyen Thi Oanh, a small girl from Bac Giang who has excellently won two gold medals in the women’s 1,500m and 3,000m steeplechase at SEA Games 32 on the afternoon of May 9.

Nguyen Thi Oanh wins miracle double gold in 30 minutes
Despite facing an arduous challenge due to schedule change, Nguyen Thi Oanh did a miracle run to win goal medals in the 1,500 m run and 3,000 m hurdles in just 30 minutes. Oanh is currently the best middle-distance runner in Southeast Asia. She attended the first SEA Games in 2013 and won a silver medal in the 3,000 m hurdles. She has dominated this event for the last three SEA Games editions.

(BGO)- On May 8 afternoon, female track and field athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh from Bac Giang province competed in women’s 5,000m event at SEA Games 32. The golden girl of Vietnam’s track and field pocketed a gold medal with a record of 17 minutes and 0.28 seconds. Her teammate Pham Thi Hong Le bagged a silver medal.
