Bac Giang step by step builds cultural-spiritual tourism brand

Updated: 07:00, 21/09/2021
(BGO) – Bac Giang province has paid attention to developing cultural-spiritual tourism to attract visitors, contributing to arousing a pride of the nation's cultural and historical traditions.

Tapping potential

Bac Giang boasts a rich cultural and historical tradition with hundreds of ranked valuable relics sites and many beautiful landscapes. This is an advantage for the province to develop cultural - spiritual tourism.

Tay Yen Tu spiritual-ecological tourism complex is an attractive destination for tourists.

In recent years, visitors to Vinh Nghiem Pagoda (Yen Dung district), Bo Da Pagoda (Viet Yen district), Xuong Giang Victory Relic Site (Bac Giang city) and a number of spiritual tourist attractions such as Mo Spring and Than Nong Temple (Luc Nam district), Am Vai Pagoda (Luc Ngan district) have been increasing day by day.

Notably, the Tay Yen Tu spiritual-ecological tourism complex (Son Dong district) has just completed its first phase, but many tourists have come here to visit and worship, especially at the beginning of the year and the summer months.

Along with repairing, upgrading and ranking relic sites and restoring traditional festivals, the construction of essential infrastructure for tourism development in many localities has been invested methodically, especially when implementing Resolution 44, dated March 30, 2016, of the provincial Party Committee's Standing Board on tourism development in Bac Giang province in 2016-2020.

Although many results have been achieved, the promotion of the value of cultural-spiritual tourism in the province still reveals limitations and is not commensurate with the potential. Tourism products still lack specificity, uniqueness and attractiveness.

Promoting investment attraction in infrastructure construction

In order to create a breakthrough in tourism development, in June 2021, the provincial Party Committee issued Resolution 112 on tourism development in the 2021-2025 period, with orientations to 2030, and the provincial People's Committee launched an implementation plan. Accordingly, the province sets targets of welcoming about 3 million visitors, earning about 3 trillion VND (131.7 million USD) in tourism revenue, and creating jobs for 6,000 workers in the field in 2025.

One of the special highlights of the plan is that by 2025, the province will complete the building of a project on "The route to spread the Dharma of the Truc Lam Yen Tu Buddhism founders". The route is expected to be about 100 km in length, passing through the districts of Yen Dung, Luc Nam and Son Dong. The project will restore relic sites following the footsteps of the Buddhist King-Monk.

By 2030, the province will basically complete the criteria for recognition of Tay Yen Tu spiritual-ecological tourism complex, Suoi Mo eco-tourism area, Vinh Nghiem pagoda tourist site, and relic sites associated with Truc Lam Buddhism on the western side of Yen Tu mountain range in the districts of Son Dong, Luc Nam and Yen Dung as national tourism areas.

On the basis of the provincial planning approved by the Prime Minister, the province has invited consultants to make the planning of key tourist areas and attractions with great potential, including the Tay Yen Tu spiritual-ecological tourist complex associated with "The route to spread the Dharma of the Truc Lam Yen Tu Buddhism founders". It also plans to build and develop "Tay Yen Tu tourism" into a trademark of Bac Giang province.

Tran Minh Ha, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said: "Basing on the province’s resolutions and plans, the department will coordinate with relevant localities and units to step up promotion of tourism”.

It will organize training courses to improve knowledge and skills for human resources in the tourism field; design intra- and inter-provincial tours and tourist routes; and set up booths introducing and selling agricultural and rural products in tourist areas, hotels and restaurants, thereby contributing to promoting the image of Bac Giang land and people, attracting tourists and promoting local socio-economic development.
