Bac Giang strengthens cooperation to bring lychee to US market

(BGO) - On March 29, the Bac Giang provincial People's Committee coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to organize an online conference to connect trade and promote consumption of lychee and other products of Bac Giang province in the US market in 2022. The event was connected from the headquarters of the provincial People's Committee, the US Embassy in Vietnam, ​​the Vietnam Trade Office in the US and many enterprises, domestic and international trade centers.

This year, the weather is favorable so the lychee grows well, with output estimated at 160,000 tonnes. Of which, 18 growing area codes are expected to be exported to the US, Australia and EU markets with an area of 218 hectares and an output of 1,600 tonnes. Harvest time is slated for May 15 - July 30.

From Washington D.C, Hoang Thi Thanh Nga, Counselor, Deputy Ambassador of Vietnam to the US, appreciated Bac Giang's proactiveness and determination in promoting lychee exports to the US market. The Vietnamese Embassy in the US always accompanies and provides maximum support regarding information as well as promotes the potential and advantages of Bac Giang to partners and localities in the US.

Ho Quang Tuan, a representative of Vietnam Airlines, said that this year, Vietnam Airlines will continue to accompany Bac Giang and businesses to bring lychee to all parts of the country as well as to the world market.

Opening opportunities for lychee to go abroad

Speaking at the conference, former Vietnamese Ambassador in the US Ha Kim Ngoc emphasized that the leaders of the two countries have made strong commitments and clearly demonstrated their determination to deepen the relationship between the two countries, but without the cooperation of localities, businesses and people, it is very difficult to realize this determination.
