Bac Giang succeeds in breeding marbled eels

(BGO) – Doan Ba Thiem, Director of Level-One Aquatic Breeding Centre in Phi Mo commune, Lang Giang district in the northern province of Bac Giang has recently informed about its success in breeding the marbled eels (anguilla marmorata ) locally.

The marbled eel is a special kind of fish whose parents live in freshwater and only lay eggs in the seaport. To date, over 3,000 marbled eels have been well grown and developed with the vital rate of more than 90 percent since the alevins were brought and nursed in tanks and ponds in May.
The Center plans to sell the fish with an average price of 100,000 VND (4.30 USD) per head in September. The marbled eels have high economic value, pricing around 500,000 VND (21.5 USD) per kilogram.
