Bac Giang to ensure product quality and safety against Covid-19 pandemic in exporting lychee to China
This year, thanks to favourable climate condition, the output of lychee is expected at 180,000 tonnes with the best quality ever. The harvest time will be from May 20 to July 30. The province continues to pay attention to developing and expanding domestic market.

For the export market, the province has directed the lychee cultivation areas to ensure the best quality and safety. Besides, the province pays special attention to production in 149 planting are codes to export to China with expected output of about 95,000 tonnes.
On behalf of the provincial leaders, Vice Chairman Phan The Tuan thanked for the support of the Chinese Embassy and Counsellor Hu Suo Jin so far. He hoped to receive their continuous support in promotion and export of Bac Giang lychee to Chinese market.
He requested Hu Suo Jin to ask the people’s government of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, Yunnan province, Commercial Department and related agencies in China to continue joining hands with Bac Giang province to organize teleconference to promote consumption of lychee on May 25.
Besides, they were required to facilitate Bac Giang province with opening green lines to prioritize export of lychee with from 300 to 500 trucks through the border gates in Lao Cai and Lang Son provinces, extending working time at the border gates until 21h00 (Chinese time). In addition, he requested Chinese government to facilitate emigration of the traders to come to Bac Giang province for survey, negotiation and purchasing lychee.
Hu Suo Jin said, this year China continues tightening preventive measures against Covid-19 pandemic. However, the Chinese Embassy in Hanoi will try their best to provide the most favourable conditions for Bac Giang province to export lychee to this market.
He urged Bac Giang province to strictly obey the safety requirements in the pandemic prevention and control. The trucks carrying lychee must be disinfected and truck drivers must be tested for Covid-19 with PCR testing method. In order for smooth consumption of lychee, the Chinese side will prepare parking lots for the trucks carrying Bac Giang lychee.

In response to the requirements from Chinese side, the provincial Vice Chairman Phan The Tuan stressed, Bac Giang will pay high attention to directing related departments and agencies to guide the gardeners on caring techniques to ensure safety. The province will also properly implement the preventive measures against Covid-19 pandemic from production to harvesting, goods loading and transportation for consumption. Those who participate in transportation of lychee will be tested for Covid-19 with PCR method before transporting lychee for export.
The province will establish a task force to remove obstacles and timely support traders in consumption of lychee. It will also launch an 100-day campaign to pay high concentration on consumption of lychee.
On the afternoon of May 9, the working delegation of the provincial People’s Committee headed by Tran Quang Tan, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade paid a site inspection and had a working session about production situation and preparation for organizing activities to promote consumption of lychee in 2022 in Luc Ngan district.
