Introducing Bac Giang lychee to US market
The US is a high class and demanding market. If the products enter this market, it will help affirm prestige and trademark as the “passport” to other ones.
Vietnam lychee has many competitors to enter US market. Though it received license to export to this country from 2014, only small quantity of lychee was consumed.

According to Nguyen Dinh Phu, Chairman of The Vietnamese Entrepreneurs Network in the United States of America (VENUSA), the biggest obstacles are distance and high freight so few Vietnam lychees are consumed at the US.
The fresh lychees are bought from Florida, Hawaii or Mexico within a day at 250,000 VND (over 10 USD) per kg which is haft of the selling price of Vietnam one.
Phu shared Vietnamese people in the US are willing to buy lychee from homeland with higher price to support local farmers. The business and Vietnamese community expect to taste local special fruit in this season.
To realize this, Bac Giang province built lychee growing area in line with GlobalGAP stanard and strictly control over the growing area code. It is necessary to have joint assistance from airline to support flight capacity with special air freight for lychee batch to US.
The Vietnamese representative organizations in the US, especially the Trade Office are suggested to accelerate communication and lychee promotion.
The Vietnamese exporters must cooperate with US partners to introduce lychee to traditional distribution channels like Asian market, Vietnamese market, online market while launching lychee introduction session to Vietnamese community in California where many Vietnamese live.
