Bac Giang, Xaysomboun work to lift relations to new heights
The visit aims to concretize the contents of the cooperation agreement between the People's Committee of Bac Giang province and the government of Xaysomboun signed in August 2021.

Implementing the policy of the Vietnamese and Lao Parties and States on building, preserving and promoting the friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations, in August 2021, the People's Committee of Bac Giang province and the government of Xaysomboun province inked a cooperation agreement for 2021-2025. This was an important milestone, laying the foundation for promoting the relationship between the two provinces.
Right after that, the Bac Giang provincial People's Committee sent a delegation including representatives of the Departments of Foreign Affairs, Home Affairs, Planning and Investment, Health, and Agriculture and Rural Development; and Bac Giang Agriculture and Forestry University to Xaysomboun to learn about the geographical location, natural conditions, socio-economic situation and development orientations of the Lao province.
Despite facing difficulties, especially those from the Covid-19 epidemic, Bac Giang has still given special attention to Xaysomboun. It pledged to support the Lao province to in building infrastructure, and realizing the goals of agriculture, education, health, culture, sports and tourism development.
In late May 2022, a Xaysomboun delegation led by its Party Committee Secretary and Governor Phoikham Houngbounyuang paid a working visit to Bac Giang. In addition to exchanging experience in building the Party and political system, promoting socio-economic development, and ensuring defense and security, the two sides also proposed solutions to infrastructure development, medical care, human resources training and development, poverty eradication, security and order maintenance.
The delegation visited many places such as the provincial Public Administration Service Center, the Van Trung Industrial Park in Viet Yen district, the Bac Giang Agriculture and Forestry University, Son Dong and Luc Ngan districts. The Xaysombound leader said he was very impressed with the socio-economic development of Bac Giang.

From now to 2025, the two provinces will continue the exchange of delegations. Bac Giang plans to send agricultural experts to the Lao province to provide technical training and support in building cultivation and husbandry models, and developing new-style rural areas and One Commune One Product (OCOP) products. It will welcome two delegations of officials and outstanding farmers from Xaysomboun to study local agricultural production models; introduce and promote specialties, OCOP products, scientific and technological research products of Bac Giang as well as specialties of Xaysomboun province at political and cultural events in the two provinces or on the occasion of visits by the two localities’ high-level delegations.
Bac Giang will introduce and support local businesses to organize delegations to Xaysomboun to explore investment opportunities in potential fields such as mining, hydropower, agriculture, forestry, and tourism.
Bac Giang will also send teachers as volunteers to teach Vietnamese language, help with master training for two civil servants, and support three excellent students in learning Vietnamese. Exchanges between the two provinces’ students will be held. The Vietnamese province will provide training and technical transfer for 15 Xaysomboun medical staff; improve expertise in medical examination and treatment and preventive medicine; and support the Lao province to build and upgrade five schools.
