More than 10 years ago, Luu Chanh medicinal plant Cooperative in Truong Son commune, Luc Nam district was only an establishment to purchase and process some kinds of medicinal plants in the locality at a small scale.

In order to expand the market, the Cooperative upgraded its website duoclieutruongson.com in early this year. According to Nguyen Van Luu, the Cooperative’s representative, the new website interface has abundant images, video clips, information and links with updated new products, their effects, prices and contact details for order.

Besides, the promotion and sale-off programmes are in eye-catching arrangement luring a large number of website traffic. Despite impact of the pandemic, the Cooperative has expanded the market in the province and to other localities with more products ordered online. Yell-flower tea product of the Cooperative was recognized 4-star OCOP product title and won cup on “Golden branch of Vietnam agriculture” for many years which gained a revenue of some 2 billion VND (87,000 USD) in 2021.

BNA Consultancy and Education Company Limited in Bac Giang city found new ways to response to the difficult circumstances. In the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic when crowded gatherings were abandoned, the company rapidly set up, used digital office while making best use of social network platforms, upgraded youtube, website and fanpage, and posted the consultancy and support services on facebook, zalo and tiktok.

Bac Giang province is ranked 10th out of 63 provinces and cities in terms of digital transformation by the Ministry of Information and Communication, of which digital economy ranks 14th. This is a good sign for Bac Giang province to continue boosting digital economy and providing digital services for citizens and enterprises.

Digitalizing economic activities

According to Duong Thanh Son, Vice Director of Bac Giang Enterprise Consulting and Assistance Center (BECA), when working with enterprises, the Center found a number of enterprises not proactively approach and apply digital technology in practical work.

In order to remove this obstacle, BECA Center has organized many propaganda and training activities for hundreds of enterprises. On the training programmes, the Center provided examples and real situations of the enterprises in Bac Giang and solutions for application of digitalization and digital transformation. Thus, business owners and workers could realize the advantages and benefits to change cognition and actions and actively involve in the digital economy.

According to a survey, after taking part in the training courses, 13 percent of the enterprises invited trainers to their companies for further discussion on digital economy and digital transformation.

So far, the provincial Department of Information and Communication has proposed many solutions. Particularly, the Department will facilitate enterprises in implementing measures to connect telecommunication enterprises.

Besides, they will provide big data analysis on situation and trends of the domestic and international market on the province’s Open Data Portal helping enterprises to define orientation and build strategies and plans for proper development of digital transformation. It is recommended to foster cooperation with big corporations like Viettel, VNPT and FPT with orientation for the enterprises towards unified development strategy of digital economy in the province.

According to Nguyen Cuong, Director of the provincial Department of Planning and Investment (DPI), the Department selected 100 enterprises to take part in the programme to support small and medium-size enterprises in digital transformation as of November 2021. 

Currently, the Department is surveying needs of the enterprises to provide appropriate support packages. In addition, DPI has launched the health management software to support enterprises in supervising and grasping the situation in quick and precise manner to seek solutions for removing obstacles.

Building digital government to better service
