Vibrant humanitarian activities

Though the Humanitarian Month in 2019 is launched from May 1-31, all levels of the provincial RCS has organised several activities to realise the target of supporting 1,500 disadvantaged people since the end of April.

The students at Bac Giang Ngo Gia Tu College register to donate blood in response to the “Red Blood Campaign in Summer 2019”.

Typically, Phuong Hoang Charity Club (under RCS in Yen Dung district) presented a gift package worth over 14 million VND (604 USD) to Le Van Lu in Bac village, Dong Viet commune who suffers from cancer and live in a poor family with sick wife and weak son due to accident. The timely support gave his family the great spiritual and material encourages to stabilise their life.

According to Chairwoman in the Yen Dung district RCS Nguyen Thi Le, adding to the existing humanitarian activities such as long term supporting 13 local families living in specially difficult circumstances and placing the humanitarian box, the district RCS calls for the philanthropists to donate the expenses for the programme of “Porridge connects the affection” at the district Medical Center.

Attaching to the implementation plan of the Humanitarian month this year, the Tan Yen district RCS popularised the content to all chapters which review and verify each case of sickness, accident victims, orphans…so as to provide suitable method of facilitation.

As the result, the district RCS has provided the urgent and long-term supports to 17 specially difficult families with total value of over 40 million VND (over 1,700 USD) since the middle of April.

Diversifying forms, mobilising various sources

To effectively implement the Humanitarian month in 2019, Chairwoman of the provincial RCS Ma Thi Thin Nga shared that the provincial RCS is promoting the role of the brigde via accelerating the movements and campaign to call for the organisations, enterprises and kind-hearted people to join hand in supporting the poor and disadvantaged households.

The practical deeds of humanitarian box, free meals and clothes to patients at the hospitals have been contributed by the people of all strata.

Adding to share the difficulty by cash and kind, the provincial RCS also takes the initiative in linking several coordination programmes with the hospitals to hold free health examination to the poor.

On the next May 13, the provincial RCS will coordinate with some hospitals to provide free medical checkups and medicine to about 3,000 poor people, policy beneficiary families, disabled children and single older persons in the province.

To realise the set target in the Humanitarian month this year, the provincial RCS directed each chapter in the districts and city to inspect and prepare the dossiers for at least 20 impoverished cases to be supported while expanding the Red Cross models and charitable clubs so as to add the sources to the charity and humanity work.

“Launching the Humanitarian month contributes to enhancing the awareness, waking up the humanity and charity in each person; hence building up a positive lifestyle, boosting up the emulative movement of conducting charity activities and realising the poverty reduction goal,” Nga pressed.

The 26th Charity Bazaar of the Hanoi International Women’s Club (HIWC Bazaar) will take place at the urban town complex Starlake in Hanoi on November 18 to raise funds for vulnerable women and children in Vietnam.
