Breakthroughs in developing national key fruit growing area

(BGO)- As fruit tree production is defined its strength, Luc Ngan district in northern province of Bac Giang has built the master plan and proposed many measures to become a national key fruit growing area.

Luc Ngan has year-round fruit seasons, particularly orange and jujube season from January to March, lychee from May to July, longan in August and citrus fruits from September to December.

“Luc Ngan district issued the Scheme No 02 on building the district into a national key fruit growing area. Accordingly, the locality has implemented synchronous measures including planning and establishing a large-scale concentrated commodity production area as well as selecting and developing potential products applied technical advance into production to improve the productivity and quality of the products.

In order to build fruit production areas meeting conditions for export to the high-end markets like Japan, the US and Europe, the competent agencies of the district have accompanied the farmers in promotional activities and technical guidance”, said Luu Anh Duc, Head of the Division of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Besides, the district has strictly managed the planting area codes and packaging facilities while taking initiative in trade promotion, seeking market for the farm produce and establishing collective trademark of the products. Particularly, the district has established collective trademark for Luc Ngan guava and longan and geographical indication of orange and pomelo.

The soil condition in Luc Ngan district is suitable for fruit tree cultivation. However, in order to build beautiful fruit gardens bearing high economic values, it requires efforts, dedication and caring experience of the farmers. The locals can master the technique to make guava and dragon fruit bear fruits all year round or produce seedless lychee. It proved that the cultivation qualification of the locals has been improved while their living standard has been also heightened.

Luc Ngan currently has 101 fruit planting area codes and 173 qualified packaging facilities. Besides, the district is digitalizing 46 lychee production households in the planting area to export to Japan.

“Apart from lychee, the district pays special attention to diversifying fruits like orange, pomelo, jujube, avocado, grape fruit and jack frui”, said Vice Chairman of the district People’s Committee Nguyen The Thi.

In coming time, the district will maintain the growing area of citrus trees while concentrating on intensive cultivation applying high technology and using organic fertilizers for stable growth and development of the plants. Particularly, the district built the models of 5ha Thai custard apple growing area and 5.36ha of persimmon in Cam Son commune. Besides, it built roofless net houses for lychee gardens in Phuong Son commune and lychee membrane house in Quy Son commune.

The district is home to 90 Cooperatives, many of which have promoted effectiveness in production linkage under value chains. In addition, the ecological farm tourism model associated with community-based tourism has seen dramatic changes when the district attracts about 50,000 arrivals annually in ripe fruit seasons.

In coming time, the locality will continue to concentrate on developing the key and signature fruit trees in the specialized cultivation areas conforming to the approved planning. Besides, it will boost transfer and application of advanced science and technology in fruit tree production with a focus on production following VietGAP, GlobalGAP and organic standards ensuring food hygiene and safety and environmental protection. The district will also encourage ecological and environment friendly farming models associated with experience tourism.

It will focus on implementing digital transformation in agriculture such as building the database for digitalizing the concentrated production areas in line with electronic diary for product traceability. Besides, the locality will continue to inspect and supplement investment in traffic and irrigation infrastructure for the fruit growing area.

(BGO) – To expand VietGAP and GlobalGAP lychee production area with qualified standard for export, especially to demanding markets of Japan, the US, EU, Australia, Republic of Korea among others, the People’s Committee in Luc Ngan district (Bac Giang province) has allocated over 500 million VND (over 21,000 USD) to support plant protection product, fertilizer, issuance of standard satisfaction, analysis of plant protection product residue on product before export.
Luc Ngan to complete infrastructure, level up urban area
(BGO)- Implementing the policy to rearrange district-level administrative units and develop urban areas in Bac Giang province in the period from 2022 to 2025, Luc Ngan district has been mobilizing investment resources with a determination to speed up the progress to fulfill the criteria on establishing Chu township by 2025. Of which, the highest priority is synchronous infrastructure development and urban embellishment.
