BAC GIANG - On the morning of September 25, the working delegation from Vietnam Railway Corporation visited Cam Ly commune, Luc Nam district (Bac Giang province) to award the Certificate of Merit from the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Railway Trade Union to Cam Ly railway officer Chu Van Dai (born 1971) of Ha Lang Railway Company for his brave action to timely rescue a woman in traffic accident.

On the morning of September 24, Dang Thi Hau (born in 1968) in Giap Son village, Cam Ly commune rode an electric bicycle across the bridge and suddenly fell into the river. Seeing this, Chu Van Dai and Le Thanh Tuan from Dan Hoi commune (Luc Nam) swam out and safely rescued the victim.

In an interview with Bac Giang Newspaper on September 24, Dai said he was on duty at that time. Hau rode her electric bicycle into the lane for train and car on the opposite direction inside the bridge.

On the second span, the pedal got caught on the edge of the bridge. The woman lost her composure, wobbled the steering wheel then fell into the Luc Nam River.

When seeing the victim struggling in the water calling for help, the local commuters quickly took off the life jackets placed on the edge of the bridge then threw it into the water for her.
