Prior to this decision, CDC Bac Giang has performed SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic tests. However, the Center had to sent the samples to the National Institute Of Hygiene And Epidemiology for external assessment .

Currently, in addition to the automatic specimen extraction system granted by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), CDC has equipped a new molecular biological testing system to ensure two testing chains working at the same time; thus, raising the testing capacity from 50 to 200 specimens per day which meets the demand for screening in the community amid the complicated developments of Covid-19 outbreak.

The CDC’s Laboratory was evaluated and appraised by the National Institute Of Hygiene And Epidemiology for meeting the conditions of SARS-CoV-2 confirmation testing. To date, the Center has tested about 1,300 specimens for SARS-CoV-2 diagnosis.
