Doctors of world leading Technology Corporations grow up from countryside
The house of Binh and Ngoc in Quan Trang residential group is the place to preserve memories about their sons’ study achievements-their pride. We can find in this house many newspapers, magazines and photos kept for 30 years, which are discolored now, framed certificates of merit or medals hung on important positions. Binh called them invaluable assets of their family when their sons reaped high achievements in study honoured by domestic and international agencies and organizations.

Ngoc used to be a teacher of the Southern students’ school in Viet Lap commune, Tan Yen district while Binh worked in construction sector. Their small salaries in subsidy period (from 1975 to 1986) were not enough for their family expenses, thus they had to do many other works to manage their living and care for their children’s study.
The little boy Nguyen Hoa Binh was taught by his mother also his teacher during 4 years at primary school.
“Since he was a child, I trained him with sense of self-control and persistence to study every evening, guided him ways of thinking to find out answers instead of solving problems for him. Besides, I always motivated and provided the best conditions for him to approach the knowledge”, said Ngoc.
They also applied this teaching method for his second child Nguyen Binh Duong (born in 1990). Like the trees cared with sufficient water, nutrition and light, both Nguyen Hoa Binh and Nguyen Binh Duong gained outstanding achievements in study.
When he was 14, Nguyen Hoa Binh was chosen to the Informatics specialized class, Hanoi University of Science and Technology. The 16 year-old boy attended and won third prize at the International Informatics Competition in 1991 and awarded certificate of merit by Vietnam Minister of Education and Training.
Graduating from the university in 1996 right on the French National Day 14 July, Nguyen Hoa Binh first arrived in the “City of light” to do doctoral research on scholarship at the most prestigious university – University of Paris. After defending the doctoral thesis in early 2003, Binh accepted the invitation to work for an American company specializing in Informatics.

With low expense but various utilities especially communication skills in English, the website attracts more than 3.2 million Vietnamese and overseas members. He was honoured to receive the “Vietnamese Talent” Award in 2015. His company’s product “Apps and website for learning English online” won “Make in Vietnam digital technology product” award in late December 2020 at the category “narrowing the digital gap” organized by Vietnam Ministry of Information and Technology.
Following his elder brother, Nguyen Binh Duong also has gained many outstanding achievements. When he was a second-year student of the College of Technology (Hanoi National University), he was honoured to be one of the 2 Vietnamese students attending the International Competition in Applied Informatics in Japan who contributed to helping Vietnam rank 8th out of 162 countries highly evaluated in technology level. He defended his doctoral thesis at Housen University, Texas, the United States. Nguyen Binh Duong has worked at the High-tech development Department, Microsoft Corporation in Washington, United States since 2019.
“I’m ready to provide every best condition for my children if they love studying. I want to spread our family’s fondness for learning tradition to our descendants”, said Binh.
Overcoming many years of hardship, now they can enjoy comfortable and peaceful life in their homeland. They are happy to see their children’s success while their children can be assured that they have a happy life.
