Heroic memories

In the early days of historic May, when the whole nation look forward to the 65th anniversary of glorious Dien Bien Phu victory, we had chance to visit Cam Son commune. The first destination was family of Vi Trong Thuc, 86 years old in Hoa village who used to be a member of Ba Hon guerrilla team. In spite of the old age, he still bears in mind the heroic memories.

In 1947, the French colonists conquered Lang Son province and Ba Hon mountain in Cam Son district which was highly evaluated in term of location to quickly cross over Quao pass to Lang Son province as well as create an impregnable defensive posture in case of withdrawing. At that time, there excluded the Cam Son lake.

In this situation, Ba Hon guerrilla team was established with dozens of members, including young boy Vi Trong Thuc at his early fifteen.

He shared: “When the enemies came, they incited and supported many bandit groups to harass and rob the villagers. Several families must leave their homes to evacuate to many places. The guerrilla team determined to stay and keep the homeland”.

In 1950, after over 3 years of resistance, the French army was defeated and driven from Cam Son. The villagers returned from various places to build the hometown. Taking the experiences from the guerrilla battles, they grew the bamboo around the village and built adjacent houses so as to timely help each others in case the enemy appeared.

New life

After the war, the life at Cam Son had many difficulties when the lake was formed and submerged a lot of cultivation areas. Thanks to the good will, the officers and people in Cam Son commune reunited to build the new life.

According to the communal People’s Committee, there was no concrete road in the locality before the Communal Party Congress in 2015. Then, the Congress set the target to mobilise various sources to build the road.

To date, The locals have donated billions of VND and over 10,000 square meters of land to expand and concrete 30 kilometres of road, accounting for 70 percent of the total length of the village road, inter-village road, inner field road and inter village transport in the commune from the funds of programme 135, new style rural building as well as support of cement to build road.

Besides, several projects of canal, medical, education and culture have been upgraded to meet the demand of life.

The local residents have actively switched the mechanism of plants and breeds as well as built the effective economic model of orchards. Typically, family of Luan Van Phuong in Cham Khon village grew 400 trees of Dien pomelo, dragon fruit and lychee to bring the income of more than 100 million VND (4,300 USD) per year.

So far, the commune has expanded the cultivation areas of lychee and longan to nearly 400 hectares and more than 40 hectare of citrus fruits while piloting several new varieties with high economic values such as custard apple, chilli and jujube trees.

Additionally, the locals introduce some new careers to the village to increase the income. Apart from naturally fishing in the lake, 7 households in Cam and Moi villages applied the cage fish farming technique and firstly achieved considerable income.

Or family of Nguyen Van Duc in Hoa village invested billions of VND in building the production facility of adobe brick, trading the construction materials, developing the transport service for the projects …to earn hundreds of millions VND per year.

Nong Van Phung, Chairman of Cam Son communal People’s Committee affirmed that in the upcoming time, the local authority will propose all levels to build the specific policy to further support the development in the Cam Son lake areas; mobilise the investment to complete the infrastructure of electric, road, school and stations; promote the community based and ecological tourism sites attaching to environment and water protection toward local life stabilisation and economic development.

Supporting development of hi-tech mushroom production

(BGO) – The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has issued the execution plan for the project of “Supporting the development of hi-tech mushroom production and consumption in the northern province of Bac Giang for the period of 2016 - 2020” in 2019.

 

Support trademark development for community farm produce

(BGO) – The People’s Committee in the northern province of Bac Giang has approved for the project to build and develop the provincial level community farm produce in the period of 2019 – 2021, the Department of Industry and Trade (DoIT) reported. 

 

Ministry of Science and Technology proposed to support development of Dang Shen

(BGO) – The Department of Science and Technology on March 21 held a conference themed “Solution to develop Sam Nam Nui Danh (Danh Mountain’s radix codonopsis javanicae or Dang Shen) in Bac Giang province”. The event was co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Science and Technology (MoST) Tran Van Tung and Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee (PPC) Duong Van Thai. 

 

Bac Giang invests nearly 30 billion VND in tourism development

(BGO) – The Department of Planning and Investment in the northern province of Bac Giang has reported that nearly 30 billion VND (over 1.2 million USD) will be invested in the infrastructure and ecology for local tourism development in 2019. 

 

Bac Giang enhances investment attraction and enterprise development

(BGO) – In 2019, Bac Giang province targets at enhancing the investment attraction and totally drawing about 1 – 1.2 billion USD of the newly registered and added capitals in the local area.
