During the implementation, the municipal Women’s Union tried to renovate the communication content and method to help the officers and women members understand the harm of nylon bag and single use plastic to human health and ecology, hence calling them to change the habit via practical activities such as using hand basket, fabric bag and box to contain the food in each shopping.

After nearly one year implementing the movement “Plastic waste prevention”, all chapters organized many conferences, meetings and talk shows which drew nearly 4,200 key officers and members.

321 waste collection groups or teams regularly communicate and persuade some 30,000 member households to collect, classify and dispose of living wastes at home.

By selling the recycles materials, the Women’s Union of all levels presented the glass water bottles to replace the single use water bottle; gifted hand baskets, paper and fabric bags as well as plastic containers to the members to replace the nylon bag while equipping waste bin, bag and sack, placing the label at the waste gathering sites.

“Green saving” – humanitarian meaning

The Women’s Association of all level used the saving from the activities to prevent the plastic waste to present rice, Chung cake, Tet gift, health insurance or cash to support over 2,000 women members, poor and impoverished children with total value of 695 million VND (nearly 30,000 USD).

Beside, a part of the value was mobilized to care for the flower road.

The outstanding collectives and individuals in waste collection and classification were honored and rewarded while 28 difficult ethnic families in Dinh Lap district, Lang Son province were supplied instant noodles, rice, 400 sets of clothes and several living utensils.

Facebook has been also effectively used by the Women’s Union in the wards, communes and chapters to transfer the messages to prevent the waste plastic; reflect the environmental clean-up, waste collection and classification activities; remove the waste gathering sites to grow 19 kilometers of flower roads in the localities.

According to Chairwoman of the municipal Women’s Union Duong Phuong Thanh, in the upcoming time all levels of the municipal Women’s Union will continue remaining and implementing effectively the Proposal “Communicating, persuading and instructing the women members to classify and dispose of living waste at home” in a close connection with the campaign “Building 5 don’t and 3 clean family” and movement “Women join hand to protect the environment for a green, clean and beautiful Bac Giang city” in the period 2017 – 2021.

Additionally, the women members will further actively collect, classify and sell the recycled materials to raise fund which is used to honor, reward the active collectives and individuals as well as help the disadvantaged women members and children.

It helps widespread the green lifestyle and good deed in each person to prevent and minimize the harm of single use plastic to the environment and human health.

(BGO) – According to several orchards in Luc Ngan district, Bac Giang province, the green skin pomelo now enjoys the selling price of 38,000 – 41,000 VND (1.64-1.77 USD)  per kilogram (each fruit weighs over 1.2 kilogram), up 15,000 – 17,000 VND per kilogram comparing to the initial stage of the crop and 5,000 – 7,000 VND per kilogram comparing to one week ago.

The small action partly helps create the green lifestyle to actively protect the environment.
