Ho Chi Minh Trail listed as prominent national heritage

The Ho Chi Minh Trail has been listed among 11 prominent national heritage sites, according to a recent announcement from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

In Vietnam, the site is known as the Truong Son Trail, which illustrates the military trail running across the Truong Son Mountain Range. The trail runs through the provinces of Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam, Kon Tum and Binh Phuoc.

The central region has another four heritage recognized in the ministry’s decision. They are the Champa Nhan Tower in Phu Yen, the Le Hoan temple of worship in Thanh Hoa, Buon Ma Thuot’s purnishing house in Dak Lak, and Marble Mountain in Da Nang.

The remaining sites included in the list of 11 are those located in the northern delta. They are the Thai Lac Pagoda in Hung Yen, Tho Tang Temple in Vinh Phuc, and Na Hang-Lam Binh nature reserve in Tuyen Quang.

The capital city of Hanoi has three. They are Tuong Phieu Temple in Phuc Tho district, So Temple in Quoc Oai district, and Dong Da Mound in Dong Da district.

The recognition is part of the ministry’s attempt to highlight the cultural and historical values of buildings and landscapes. According to the ministry, the recognition is also meaningful for the protection of the country’s ancient legacy.

The ministry regulates responsibility of local authorities where the heritage item is based in protecting the buildings and landscapes.

Tan Yen preserves and promotes values of relics
(BGO) - Tan Yen district of Bac Giang province boasts rich history and culture, with many provincial, national and special national relics. Over the past years, the locality has always paid much attention to restoring and renovating the degrading relic sites, thus promoting historical values and meeting the people's needs for religious practice.

(BGO) – Many ancient relics have been unearthed during the recent farming process in Bia hill, Tan An hamlet, An Thuong commune, Yen The district (Bac Giang province) such as architecture decoration materials, construction materials, ceramic, pottery and earthenware with tower printing. 
 
Relics honour Bac Giang’s learning tradition
(BGO) - Bac Giang is a land with the tradition of learning and taking Confucian examinations. Throughout the historical periods, Confucianism has left a treasure of rich knowledge and many valuable legacies such as relics of schools, Confucian temples and shrines, steles, families’ ancestor worship houses and places for the worship of the homeland’s laureates and scholars.
 
Doi Son pagoda in Ha Nam gets special national relic status
The People’s Committee of Ha Nam province hosted a ceremony on May 3 to receive a certificate recognizing Doi Son (or Long Doi Son) pagoda as a special national relic site and to kick off Doi Son pagoda festival 2018.

The complex of Dien Bien Phu battlefield in the northeastern province of Dien Bien features 45 relic sites to serve tourists.
