Korean group offers scholarships to students in Lam Dong

The CJ Group of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on December 27 granted 115 scholarships, worth a total 500 million VND (21,500 USD, for excellent but impoverished students in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong.

The scholarships are part of the group’s annual programme to demonstrate its corporate responsibility to society, the group said in a statement.

Over the past six years, the CJ Group has granted more than 600 scholarships to poor pupils and students in the province to help them cover their tuition and living expenses.

The group said it will expand the scope of scholarships to students in other provinces and areas where it is doing business.

During a meeting with National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan in the RoK early this month, leaders of the CJ Group emphasized the importance of community service and committed to volunteer activities for the Vietnamese people.

Since the establishment of a representative office in Ho Chi Minh City in 1998, the CJ Group has expanded to more than 17 business lines including food and food ingredients, animal feed production and animal husbandry, breeding animals and entertainment. To date, the group has invested about 880 million USD in the Vietnamese market.

Deputy PM presents gifts, scholarships to poor families, students
Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh and a delegation from the Government Office have recently presented 50 houses worth 3.5 billion VND (150,500 USD) and a number of scholarships to poor households and students in border communes of Tan Bien district, the southern province of Tay Ninh.
 
9 Bac Giang’s students awarded Vallet scholarship in 2018
(BGO) – 9 students from the northern province of Bac Giang have been awarded Vallet scholarship in the academic year 2018 in Hanoi Opera House, namely Trinh Duy Hieu, Ly Thi Kieu Diem, Nguyen Dinh Hai, Tran Dinh Quoc Bao, Giap Thi Thu Thao, Nguyen Dieu Linh (Bac Giang Highschool for Gifted Students); Ngo Duy Khanh, Nguyen Tuan Anh and Luu Toan Thang (Ngo Si Lien Highschool in Bac Giang city).
