The Thu Duc wholesale market management enterprise (Ho Chi Minh City), the Binh Phuoc agricultural market (Binh Phuoc province) and Nazo Company Limited (Hanoi) signed memorandum of understanding on promoting the consumption of agricultural products with five agricultural cooperatives in Bac Giang province.

The purchasers committed that all contracts will be signed before the harvest season. For Nazo Co., Ltd. Nguyen Duc Hien, Chairman of the provincial Cooperative Alliance, said "The signing of the memorandum of understanding between the five local cooperatives and cooperative union with enterprises and wholesale markets helps members' goods to be promoted and consumed stably. At the same time, it is also a motivation for cooperatives and cooperative unions to improve their product quality”.

Maintaining quality

Immediately after signing the MOUs, these five units have joined local authorities and professional agencies to start production. The Than Truong Cooperative in Xuan Luong commune (Yen The district) is implementing many measures to maintain and improve the quality of tea cultivation and processing.

With this prospect, the cooperative continues to direct its members to develop safe tea areas on 25 ha of member households and more than 100 ha of affiliated households; build value chain; support the use of automatic watering system and microbial fertilizer and purchase products with prices 10 – 15 percent higher than those in the market. It also strengthens the monitoring of compliance with production processes to ensure safety and efficiency.

At present, all products of cooperatives and cooperative unions joining the fair were purchased by the two wholesale market management enterprises and Nazo Co., Ltd with a total value of nearly 300 million VND (12,820 USD).

At the Hong Xuan Agricultural Production and General Service Business Cooperative (Luc Ngan district), farmers have exerted efforts to take care of lychee, preparing the best conditions for products to meet market requirements. The household of Giap Van Huy in Kep 1 village, Hong Giang commune (Luc Ngan) are actively taking care of and preventing harmful pests and diseases on lychee.

He does not use chemicals, but only preventive biological products. Currently, 22 the cooperative’s member households are carrying out a safe caring process on a total area of more than 20 ha of lychee according to VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards in Hong Giang and Quy Son communes...

The provincial Cooperative Alliance has held a discussion on the content of the minutes signed with cooperative members. The alliance also advised the provincial People's Committee and local authorities to facilitate businesses’ purchase of products while guiding people how to produce and supporting them in stamping, labelling and packaging.

Hoang Tien Hung, head of Hiep Hoa district's Agriculture and Rural Development Division, said: “Recognizing that this is a great opportunity for local agricultural production, the division is proposing the district People's Committee have a mechanism to support all the goods stamping and packaging of the Dong Tam 3 Agricultural Cooperative and the Hiep Hoa Organic Agricultural Cooperative Union (Hiep Hoa district)".
