Outstanding athletes, coaches honoured

Outstanding athletes and coaches were honoured at a ceremony in Hanoi on March 27, as part of activities marking the 73rd anniversary of Vietnamese Sports Day.

Addressing the event, Vuong Bich Thang, head of the Vietnam Sports Administration, said 2018 marked the striking success of Vietnam’s sports sector at international tournaments.

He recalled the U23 Vietnam’s finishing second at the Asian Football Confederation U23 Championship for the first time, Vietnam’s win at the ASEAN Football Federation Suzuki Cup after ten years and achievements Vietnamese athletes recorded at the Asian Games and the Asian Para Games, among others.

Thang noted his hope that Vietnamese athletes and coaches will reap more achievements in the years to come.

Bac Giang’s athlete breaks third record at national sports festival
(BGO) – After grasping 2 golds at women’s 1,500-meter and 5,000-meter race, Bac Giang born athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh completed all competition events at the National Sports Festival 2018 in the morning of December 1 with her forte of 3,000 - meter steeplechase.

More than 7,000 athletes are competing in the National Sports Games which is taking place in Hanoi, the northern province of Hoa Binh and the central province of Khanh Hoa from November 15 to December 10.
 
Vietnamese athletes arrive in Indonesia for Asian Para Games
The Vietnamese delegation arrived in Jakarta, Indonesia on October 1 to compete in the third Asian Para Games scheduled for October 6-14. 
 
1,500 athletes competes in 45th Ha Noi Moi Newspaper Run
Around 1,500 athletes from 20 cities and provinces, including 280 foreign runners from 26 embassies, competed in the 45th Ha Noi Moi (New Hanoi) Newspaper Run, scheduled to start at Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi on September 30.
