Party, State leaders present Tet gifts to disadvantaged people

Party and State leaders have presented gifts to poor people and workers across the country ahead of Lunar New Year (Tet) festival which lasts from February 2-10 this year.
Tran Quoc Vuong, Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, on January 19 visited and presented 100 gift packages to poor households in Xuan Tam, Phong Du Thuong and Phuong Du Ha communes of Van Yen district in the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai.

Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh presents gifts to workers in Hai Duong.

Vuong and his entourage visited a resettlement area in Lung hamlet, Phong Du Thuong commune, which was hard hit by torrential rains and floods in July 2018.

He asked leaders of Yen Bai and Van Yen district to continue to take care of local residents, especially households severely affected by natural disasters.

On this occasion, the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) handed over 6 billion VND (258,000 USD) to Van Chan and Van Yen districts to build schools in disadvantaged communes.

The same day, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh presented gifts to trade unions and workers at industrial parks in the Red River Delta province of Hai Duong.

Addressing a year-end gathering held for 410 underprivileged workers in Hai Duong by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour the same day, Binh expressed his hope that after the holiday, the workers will work harder to complete their tasks, contributing to the development of businesses, Hai Duong and the country at large.

On this occasion, Binh visited the family of a worker of the Hai Duong Urban Environment JSC, who is facing difficult circumstances.

The provincial Labour Federation also presented gifts, each worth 500,000 VND (21.5 USD) to needy employees, together with 300,000 VND (12.9 USD) to help them buy tickets to return home for Tet.

Also on January 19, Truong Thai Mai, Politburo member and head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation, granted gifts to children and social policy beneficiaries in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong.

She was accompanied by representatives of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee, the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS) and the National Fund for Vietnamese Children under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.

They presented 100 gift packages to poor children, social policy beneficiaries and Agent Orange/dioxin victims in Duc Trong and Don Duong districts.

The delegation also visited the SOS Children’s Village in Da Lat, the provincial Social Sponsor Centre and local retirees.

On this occasion, the provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and chapters of the VFF and VRCS in Lam Dong presented 250 gift packages to local disadvantaged people.

The same day, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh visited and presented gifts to patients at the Hanoi Oncology Hospital as part of the “Supportive fund for cancer patients – bright future” which will also organize buses to bring the patients home for Tet reunion from January 25-30.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc presented 100 Tet gifts to policy beneficiaries and disadvantaged ethnic minority people in Nui village, Tam Thang commune, Cu Jut district during his working visit to the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong on January 15.
 
Provincial leader extends Tet Greetings to FDI enterprises
(BGO) – The Vice Chairman of the Bac Giang provincial People’s Committee (PPC) Duong Van Thai on January 14 visited and extended Tet Greetings to some foreign direct investment (FDI) enterprises currently operating in the province. He was accompanied by representatives from the departments of Foreign Affair, Industry and Trade, the Management Board of the provincial Industrial Parks and Viet Yen district. 
 
Poor people to receive chung cake ahead of Tet
A programme to make Chung cake (square, glutinous rice cake) for disadvantaged communities will take place at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism from January 24-26, said the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (MCST) on January 14.

(BGO) – In these days, the atmosphere in craft villages making fine arts furniture, incense and rice papers ... in Bac Giang province have become more bustling. This year, traditional handicraft products have drawn the interest of consumers and been sold at higher prices.
