So far, most of the areas have been harvested with total productivity of over 23,000 tonnes and revenue of over 310 billion VND (13.1 million USD), up about 2,800 tonnes and over 67 billion VND year on year.

This was the first year the province has ever exported fresh longan to Australia, helping open path to export this fruit to the world.

The result was gained thanks to strict collaboration of the DARD and localities to guide the farmers to accelerate longan cultivation in line with VietGAP standard; grant growing area code to export the fruit to several markets of Australia, Republic of Korea and China; enhance the product value.

Besides, the DARD cooperated with Luc Nam and Yen The districts to direct the production of late ripening longan in line with export standard for foreign markets of the US, Australia, Japan and Singapore while encouraging farmers to suitably arrange the longan varieties’s structure, extend the product consumption period and avoid risk for farmers.

Ten tonnes of Vietnamese longan exported to Australia

Nearly 10 tonnes of Vietnamese longan were exported to Melbourne, Australia, on August 10, according to the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia.
