Southeast Asia chess championship 2019 opens in Bac Giang

(BGO) - The Southeast Asia Chess Championships 2019 opened in the northern province of Bac Giang on October 28 at Muong Thanh Hotel (Bac Giang city) with Le Anh Duong, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, Nguyen Dong Tien, Chairman of Vietnam Chess Federation in attendance. 

Addressing the opening ceremony, Director of Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Head of Organization Board Tran Minh Ha expressed that the Southeast Asia Chess Championships 2019 held in Bac Giang province from October 25 to November 3 is a good chance for chess players in Southeast Asian countries to improve the competition achievement and exchange toward stronger solidarity.

This year event drew more than 60 officers, coaches and outstanding athletes from 5 countries in the Southeast Asian region, including the Philippines, Laos, Indonesia, Myanmar and Vietnam.

They will compete in 3 events for men and women, including rapid, blitz and standard chess.

A match at the event.

At the standard event, 90 minutes are provided to each player with 30 seconds supplemented to each move from the first one while the players compete 7 matches with 10 minutes for each and 5 seconds supplemented to each move at rapid chess. Regarding the blitz chess, the players compete 9 matches, each side has 3 minutes with two second added to each move.

Finishing the championship, the Organization Board will present 6 sets of prize to the players. 6 chess players in Bac Giang province joined the event.
