Support housing rent cost for labour

Updated: 21:36, 05/04/2022
(BGO) – Recently, the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (DoLISA) has actively cooperated with relevant departments to plan and consult the provincial People’s Committee to implement housing rent support policy to labour in line with the Decision No. 08/2022/QD-TTg on March 28 issued by the Prime Minister.

As of March 31, Bac Giang had six industrial parks with total numbers of 382 operating businesses and nearly 176,700 labours, more than 73,200 of whom are boarding. A survey proved that the labours must use 20 to 25 percent of total monthly income for housing rent cost. So the Government policy helps partly share the difficulties with the workers, especially amid extended impacts by Covid-19 pandemic.

Staff in Nenh town (Viet Yen district) reviews and grasps the labours boarding in the area.

Accordingly, two groups will receive support, labourers working in enterprises and those returning to the labour market, at the rate of 500,000 VND per person each month (21.7 USD) and 1,000,000 VND per person each month, respectively.

Employers need to compile lists of employees requesting support based on the employee’s application and publicly post the lists at the workplaces for at least three working days. Employers are responsible for the accuracy of employee information.

Employers must send the lists to social insurance agencies to confirm that employees included are participating in social insurance (the processing time is two days).

Employers then submit a request for support to the district-level People’s Committee for appraisal and then submit to the provincial-level People’s Committee to issue a decision approving the lists, funding for support and directing the payment of support. The processing time of district-level and provincial-level People’s Committees is two days each.

Employers must then make payment to employees within two working days from the date of receipt of the support fund.

According to DoLISA’s Vice Director Tran Van Ha, the Department has urgently collaborated with relevant sectors to consult local authority to issue specific plan. Firstly, the DoLISA proposed to organize training course to address relevant issues with representatives of leaders and staff in charge at enterprises in the industrial parks, hence timely answering any question.

During implementation, the Department will sum up the proposals and reflection about the obstacles then recommend solution to the provincial People’s Committee, Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs to ensure the legitimate right of the labours.
