Tan Yen to build 3 high-tech Deng Shen production models

(BGO)- According to the people’s committee of Tan Yen district, Bac Giang province, in line with expanding the growing area of Sam Nam Nui Danh (Danh Mountain’s radix codonopsis javanicae or Dang Shen) on mixed gardens, hills and highlands at total 21 hectares, this year the district will support to build 3 Dang Shen production models applying high technologies at the scale from 1 hectare in close production chains.

Particularly, the district will support with 50 percent of seedling price for the enterprises, cooperatives, households and groups of households or individuals to expand the production area of Danh Mountain’s Dang Shen at a scale from 0.1 hectares.

Sam Nam is widely developed on the foot of Danh mountain.

The 3 high-tech production models will be assisted with automatic watering system (not more than 20 million VND (870 USD) for each system). The total fund is nearly 4.2 billion VND (182.7 million USD) from the financial resource for agricultural development and rice land protection and people’s counterpart fund.

To that end, the district will review and supplement the hill lands and grounds with good drainage to the growing area planning while encouraging farmers to amend the mixed gardens and implement crop restructuring to bring Dang Shen into cultivation.

Danh Mountain’s Dang Shen is currently grown in some communes of Viet Lap, Lien Chung, Quang Tien and An Duong with total area of 24 hectares. To date, 2.5 hectares of Dang Shen have produced roots for harvest and farmers have harvested buds and flowers on about 15 to 17 hectares.
