They included families of the martyr; war invalids and sick soldiers; Vietnamese heroic mothers; Heroes of the People’s Armed Forces; Labor Heroes; revolutionary veterans; pre-revolutionary officers, war prisoners (live); Agent Orange victim (direct exposure); war invalids and sick soldiers (65 people) nursed at the provincial Nursing Center for the National Contributors and Lang Giang Nursing Center for the War Invalids.

The Secretary of Bac Giang provincial Party Committee Bui Van Hai presents Tet gifts to the wooded soldiers at the provincial Nursing Center for the National Contributors.

Each gift was worth 500,000 VND (over 21 USD the same value as 2018). Additionally, the province presented the gifts to 7 agencies (in and outside the province) in charge of nursing and treating the war invalids and sick soldiers (participated by Bac Giang’s cases).

This year, there were some increases in the gift value to several subjects. Particularly, the gift’s worth to the typical national contributors in 10 districts and city (20 cases) was up from 1 to 1,3 million VND (56 USD) per person; Tet’s allowance (3 days) to 369 people under nursing at the state-owned facilities increased from 200,000 to 300,000 VND (8.6 – 12.94 USD) per person per day; gift to 58 people at non state-owned facilities increased from 300,000 to 500,000 VND per person per set.

The total value of the Tet gifts and allowance to the national contributors and social policy beneficiaries reached over 19.8 billion VND (about 855,000 USD).

Health sector calls for blood donations ahead of Tet

The National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion has called on the community, especially those with type O blood, to donate blood in an effort to avoid a shortage during the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) holidays.
