Two female students in Bac Giang receive “January Star” Award
Living and thinking positively
From a young age, the image of her mother - teacher Nguyen Thuy Ha of the Lang Son Primary School (Yen Dung district) who always loved students but was very strict has been deeply etched in the mind of little girl Le Ngoc Oanh (born in 1999).
In the past, Oanh was a shy girl who could only hide behind her mother when meeting strangers but in a new environment – the Primary-Preschool Department of the Ngo Gia Tu Bac Giang College), she has gradually changed.

Encouraged by teachers, Oanh has actively participated in collective activities, and became more confident in front of many people. Not only that, Oanh has also actively took part in pedagogical competitions held by the school to improve her knowledge and skills. In particular, the project "Designing environmental protection activities for primary students" in the 2018-2019 school year was appreciated by the college’s scientific council.
Besides, Oanh has constantly studied and updated knowledge in the new textbook curriculum, and learned more about spelling and word-compounding rules in Vietnamese.
Currently, Oanh is Vice Chairwoman of the Students Association of the Ngo Gia Tu Bac Giang College. She is the only student in Bac Giang province who is a member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Students Association.
Oanh is a member and head of several clubs in the fields of arts, soft skills, blood donation, sports and voluntary activities. In 2018, she joined the Vietnam Red Journey in Bac Giang. Pursuing her dream of standing on the podium, Oanh maintains a positive way of living and thinking, loving all people around her.
Accompanying farmers
Also receiving the "January Star" Award this year, Phung Thi Duyen (born in 1999), a student of the Bac Giang Agriculture and Forestry University, is known for leading her class in academic results for five consecutive years, with an average score of 3.8 points or higher (the highest score is 4 points).

With her delicate face, Duyen was a singer in the high school. Her friends all thought that after graduating, she would apply for admission to a cultural and art school. However, the student from Lan Gioi commune (Tan Yen district) chose to study at the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of the Bac Giang Agriculture and Forestry University.
Duyen comes from a farmer family in a rural area with many large-scale animal farms that provide the main source of income for local people. After being advised by her parents, Duyen decided to choose the field of animal husbandry so that in the future, she can help people in her hometown develop the economy sustainably.
Her house is far away, so she has to take care of herself, arrange a reasonable schedule and prioritize study. Phung Thi Duyen's good learning experience is listening to lectures and actively discussing in the class and mainly self-study at home. Even on holidays, Duyen rarely sleeps but often appears in the lecture hall, library and laboratory.
Nguyen Viet Dung, lecturer of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine and Secretary of the university Youth Union, said Phung Thi Duyen, Secretary of a chapter of the university Youth Union, also plays a key role in the arts and sports, youth volunteer, and blood donation activities at the school. Duyen was awarded many certificates of merit by the university Youth Union for her outstanding achievements in the movements "Advanced young people follow Uncle Ho’s teachings" and "Five-virtue student".
With these achievements, Duyen was recently introduced by the Party Organisation of the Bac Giang Agriculture and Forestry University to the Party Committee of the provincial agencies to consider her admission to the Party on the occasion of the 90th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3,1930-2020).
