Vice President requires better care for disadvantaged children

The agencies, organisations, social unions and schools need to pay more attention to protecting, educating and caring for children, particularly those who are living in difficult circumstances.

The statement was made by Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh at her reception in Hanoi for a delegation of children who have overcome difficulties to gain outstanding achievements in their studies on September 9, on the occasion of new academic year and Mid-Autumn Festival.

Talking with 106 disadvantaged children from seven provinces and cities around the country, the Vice President expressed her pleasure at the achievements they gained despite both material and spiritual difficulties.

She appreciated the efforts made by the Vietnam Association for the Protection of Children's Rights in caring for children, especially the students living in difficult circumstances.

The association has always communicated the Party’s guidelines and State’s policies on caring and educating children as well as actively participated in supervising the implementation of child rights laws and policies, added Vice President Thinh.

She hoped that the disadvantaged children can to continue to overcome difficulties to turn their dreams into reality and become capable and virtuous citizens, contributing to the cause of national construction.

3,200 children provided free congenital heart defect screening under “Heart for Kids” program
(BGO)- Bac Giang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, Vietnam National Hospital of Pediatrics, the Vietnam Heart Fund of the Vietnam Television and the Military Industry - Telecommunications Group (Viettel) jointly held the voluntary program themed “Heart for Kids”, a free congenital heart defect screening programme for children under 16.
