Updated: 14:44, 17/10/2019
Salinda Resort on Phu Quoc Island was pronounced Asia’s and Vietnam’s leading boutique resort at the World Travel Awards Asia-Oceania 2019 ceremony Saturday. The WTA, labeled as "The Oscars of the Travel Industry" by The Wall Street Journal, acknowledges and rewards excellence in the travel, tourism and hospitality industries.

Phu Quoc’s sweeping beaches and lush forests have made it a tourism hotspot and the country's largest island has seen a resultant hotel boom as well.

Salinda Resort won Vietnam’s Leading Boutique Resort and Asia’s Leading Beach Boutique Resort awards at the WTA 2019.

The resort provides an intimate and luxurious experience to its guests with its architecture and landscape complementing the natural setting of the island with tropical gardens and a coconut grove. Each of its deluxe rooms, suites and villas showcases the beauty of Vietnam through wall art that highlights cultural treasures like traditional royal pottery or pearl shells.

While the resort is wrapped in a green silken shawl with over 100 tree varieties and flowering plants, it also aims to promote environmental stewardship in daily operations, substituting plastic with naturally recyclable materials, from wooden bathroom amenities to bamboo straws – all part of the Purple by Salinda Sustainability Initiative.

Since May 2019, Salinda has been an official collaborator with WWF-Vietnam for Plastic Reduction Management on Phu Quoc Island.

Salinda’s swimming pool substitutes traditional industrial chlorine with an ionized one extracted from natural salts.

With a royal blue colour matching the ocean beyond, its calm surface refecting a cascade of palm leaves, the stars, the moon and the sun, Salinda has elevated its pool to an art installation. It runs on a special salt-filtration technology, substituting traditional industrial chlorine with an ionized one extracted from natural salts.

The resort’s "Sparkling Breakfast" has live piano music that can be enjoyed with glass of bubbly or a cup of freshly brewed Vietnamese coffee for a new "good morning" experience enhanced by the gentle ocean breeze and a delightful presentation of fresh island fare.

In the evenings, it offers a range of cuisine options under the direction of specialty head chefs, from authentic Vietnamese and traditional Indian to contemporary Italian, each served in a setting with a distinctive venue concept.

Later in the night, guests can embark on a musical journey in the High Note Bar Lounge with live music and a large selection of music-inspired cocktails.
