Vietnam hosts nearly 21,000 foreign students

There are nearly 21,000 foreign students who are attending studying programmes in Vietnam at various educational levels, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET).

In the 2018-2019 school year, the ministry signed 21 cooperation agreements with foreign partners at the government and ministry levels, up 16 documents compared to the 2017-2018 school year.

There are 455 foreign direct investment projects in Vietnam in the field of education and training, out of 27,353 in total.

More foreign students have come to Vietnam to study.

To enhance international integration, in the last school year, various localities across the country invested in bilingual teaching programmes in high schools, while tightening cooperation with nearly 550 programmes and over 340 international establishments worldwide to expand domestic tertiary education institutions.

Actively promoting IT application in managing and supporting teaching activities, up to now, 82% of public education establishments use school management software, 90% of educational institutions effectively implement primary school assessment software and 40% of school management software is connected with the database of the MOET.

Nearly 5,000 e-learning lectures have been developed and added to the digital Vietnamese Knowledge System, along with over 900 enrolment projects of universities and colleges, 7,500 doctoral dissertations, nearly 30,000 multiple choice questions and school data.

Nearly 40% of teachers have participated in training courses on IT application, of which 29% can design e-learning lectures to support students' self-study.

The industry database on preschool and general education has been deployed at 52,900 educational institutions nationwide. The database for higher education was initially implemented for enrolment and monitoring the sector’s statistical activities.
