Vietnamese badminton expects on Tien Minh and Vu Thi Trang toward SEA Games 30
At the SEA Games 29, Vietnamese badminton team won one bronze at men’s singles event (Nguyen Tien Minh) and a bronze for women’s doubles (Dinh Thi Phuong Hong – Do Thi Hoai), which was a good result when Vietnamese players competed with strong and well prepared rivals in the South East Asian region.

After the event, the national badminton has focused more on investing to young faces to build the next generation to Tien Minh and Vu Thi Trang. Such players as Le Duc Phat, Pham Cao Cuong, Nguyen Thuy Linh, Do Tuan Duc and Pham Nhu Thao ...have been facilitated to develop the talent.
In men’s singles content, Vietnam yet to have any player who can defeat the 36 year old Nguyen Tien Minh. In 2019, Tien Minh won 3 gold medals at men’s team, men’s singles at national badminton championship and men’s singles at national badminton championship for excellent players.
To prepare for the upcoming SEA Games 30, Vietnamese badminton team continues placing the belief on the experienced athletes of whom Tien Minh and Vu Thi Trang are typical names. It is a truly safe solution because the couples can realize the medal target at the big event.
Currently, Tien Minh ranks 58 in the men’s single event at Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Ranking and also the sole Vietnamese players named in top 100. Particularly, the 36 year old athlete is still full of energy and enthusiasm for the sport.
Adding to the domestic golds, he has recently bagged several achievements in international events, typically champion title at Lagos International Badminton Classic 2019 in Nigeria and bronze medal at Badminton Asia Championship 2019.
Besides, at women’s singles event, Vu Thi Trang now secures 57th BWF ranking with an open door to pocket the ticket to Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. Though Trang were beaten by Thuy Linh twice in domestic tourneys, she competed successfully in the international games.
Trang crowned champion title at 2019 Ghana International Tournament in July 2019, finished runner-up at Maldives International Challenge 2019 in September and entered quarter-final at 2019 Swiss Open held in Switzerland.

There is no player in Vietnamese badminton having same achievement as the couple of Trang and Minh in the international arena. The experienced competition, effective playing method using less physical strength are the key factors for two players to promote their capability in the foreign games as well as the need for Vietnamese badminton in the journey to conquer the upcoming SEA Games.
Apart from Minh – Trang, the couple Do Tuan Duc – Pham Nhu Thao is another hope for national badminton in the SEA GAMes 30. They now rank 57 BWF World Ranking and can make a surprise in case of a good draw.
For over 10 years, the international achievements for Vietnamese badminton have been mostly contributed by Nguyen Tien Minh and Vu Thi Trang who won 3 silvers and 3 bronzes (two for Trang) at men’s singles and women’s singles events at the previous SEA Games.
At a quite old age with high expectation from numerous fans of Vietnamese badminton, the couple Minh – Trang will surely promote their talent and experiences to strive their best for a brilliant games and bring glory to the national sports sector.
