Vietnamese culture and food advertised in Brussels

The beauty of Vietnamese people and culture and the unique flavours of some typical Vietnamese dishes were introduced to locals in Brussels, Belgium during the Vietnamese Day organised by the Belgium-Vietnam Alliance (BVA) on September 1.

In his opening remarks, BVA President Andries Gryffroy expressed his pleasure in holding the event for the first time, hoping that the programme will initiate the cultural activities on Vietnam to be hosted by the BVA in the future.

Speaking highly of the significance of the event in advertising the Vietnamese land, culture and people, Vietnamese Ambassador to Belgium Vu Anh Quang voiced his wish that it will be held annually in the country.

During the Vietnamese Day, visitors had the chance to discover the charms of the Vietnamese people and culture, in addition to being treated to some dishes imbued with Vietnamese national identities, including banh cuon (steamed rice rolls), pho (noodle soup) and nem (spring rolls).

They also learned more about Vietnam through art programmes, traditional dances, books and other tourism promotion activities.

All the proceedings collected from the event will be used for social and humanitarian projects in Vietnam, such as providing educational documents for students in remote and difficult areas and supporting people with disabilities and the lonely elderly people.
