Winners of Vietnam Music Awards 2020 honoured

A ceremony was held by the Vietnam Musicians’ Association (VMA) in Hanoi on January 17 to present the 2020 Vietnam Music Awards to 78 outstanding musical works.

In 2020, the VMA received 205 works from 205 VMA’s members, coming from all provinces and cities across the country, to compete for the Vietnam Music Awards in many different forms, including compositions, children songs, performances, symphonic works, chamber works, choral works, research books, textbooks, and articles. Of which, there were 162 in vocal music, 13 in instrumental music and 18 in theoretical works.

Several of the works that won the Music Awards 2020 were performed at the awards ceremony. 

The organising board selected and awarded 78 works with excellent quality in all forms.

Specifically, in the category of compositions, the organising board presented 41 awards for excellent works, including three A prizes, 16 B prizes and 22 C prizes for quality songs.

In the children’s song category, two A prizes, three B prizes and five C prizes were presented. Meanwhile, in the category of symphonic works, one A prize and one C prize were presented.

In the category of chamber works, there was no A prize awarded; the organising board gave one B and three C prizes. In addition, only two choral works were honoured with C prizes.

The Arts Council also presented two A, seven B, 3 C and two consolation prizes to other notable works in many different forms, including research books, textbooks, and articles.

In the category of performances, five programmes: the Chu Minh music night named "Ta Tu Hao Di Len, Oi Vietnam", the Doan Nho music night named "Tien Buoc Duoi Quan Ky", the Pho Duc Phuong music night "Khuc Hat Phieu Ly", the Xuan Binh live show "Toi Nguoi Hai Phong ", and the program entitled “Can Tho towards the Central region" were honoured.

Several of the works that won the Music Awards 2020 were performed at the awards ceremony.
