Yen The ready for opening festival

BAC GIANG- Yen The district has been actively preparing for a solemn, happy and wide-spreading festival to mark the 140th anniversary of Yen The Uprising since beginning of the New Year of the Dragon.

Yen The festival was first organized in 1984 on the 100th anniversary of Yen The farmers’ uprising. Since then, the festival has been held annually with diverse activities, which became one of the biggest traditional festival in the province.

Temple worshipping National hero Hoang Hoa Tham and Yen The insurgent army is completed, helping expand the festival space.

This year, the festival space will be larger with new spiritual buildings such as the temple worshiping the national hero Hoang Hoa Tham and Yen The insurgents and a communal house.

In order to well prepare for the big provincial cultural event, the party committee, government and competent agencies of Yen The district have joined hands to implement relating tasks. In line with facilities for the festival, the local government pays attention to urban refurbishment and traffic order and safety.

The festival to mark the 140th anniversary of Yen The Uprising will take place in 3 days (from 15 to 17 March 2024) at provincial scale. Apart from traditional activities like incense offering and fish and bird release rituals, Yen The district will host the 2024 National Wrestling Championship and collaborate with the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize an exhibition displaying documents and artifacts related to Yen The Uprising. 

Besides, the district will organize a youth camp, goat fighting and other sport competitions such as football, badminton, soft volleyball, rod pushing, crossbow shooting and tug of war within the festival.

The relic sites in the district are expected to welcome about 80,000 to 90,000 visitors during the festival, an increase of 20,000 arrivals compared to last festival.

Over 972,000 USD invested to restore and embellish Y Son temple relics in Hiep Hoa
