The activities were part of the second phase of the comprehensive rural development project in Bao Son.

The “Communication Night” in Bao Son commune on December 3 focused on adolescent care and education; the role of the family and the school; economic development through livestock breeding and farming; and the safe use of pesticides. The event attracted a large number of people inside and outside the commune. The performances at the "Communication Night" were performed by the local people and students as well as volunteers of the project.

On December 2, YWAM in coordination with the Bao Son People's Committee inaugurated a friendly library at Bao Son secondary school. In 2017, the organization supported the establishment of four friendly libraries at a cost of 100 million VND (4,400 USD) each. The libraries, which are designed to be friendly with kids, have books, bookshelves, furniture and other facilities suitable for children.

YWAM and Bao Son commune People's Committee have jointly inaugurated a friendly library at Bao Son Secondary School recently.

Books in the library are classified according to age. In kindergartens and elementary schools, teachers are trained in delivering reading classes in the library to create and develop reading habits among children and adding "library reading" classes in the schools’ studying timetable.

In addition, outdoor bookshelves are also placed in every secondary school to give children easy access to books during their break time. Parents can also borrow books to read while waiting to pick up their children.

In particular, each secondary school is equipped with many books on life skills, reference books and storybooks. As at their age, secondary students have different reading skills and knowledge from those at kindergarten and primary levels. Each classroom is equipped with a small bookcase, ensuring that students can read books in the most convenient way.

Periodically, books in each classroom will be circulated and updated to ensure that the bookcases are always new, creating excitement for pupils.

The meaningful programmes and activities of YWAM have helped children enjoy a friendly reading environment while giving opportunities to local people to get helpful knowledge, thus improving their living conditions.
