Of 1,970 entries submitted by central and local press agencies, 183 works across 13 award groups were chosen for the final round.
Opening the session, Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Editor-in-chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Viet Nam Journalists' Association, Deputy Head of the PCC’s Commission for Communication and Mass Mobilisation, and Chair of the Final Judging Council, emphasised: “It is both an honour and a heavy responsibility for the Final Judging Council to ensure objectivity, fairness, and wisdom in selecting the most outstanding works from the finalists.”
He also urged Council members to demonstrate the highest sense of responsibility by thoroughly and impartially evaluating entries to choose those exemplary in both content and form, “addressing truly important issues of the country, ensuring ideological and political orientation, honesty, and positive social impact,” worthy of recognition on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Viet Nam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925–June 21, 2025).
According to the Preliminary Judging Council’s report presented by the Standing Vice President of the Viet Nam Journalists Association, despite challenges posed by organisational restructuring under Resolution 18-NQ/TW, press agencies actively participated with the highest number of entries ever recorded.
The 74 preliminary judges, divided into 12 subcommittees, worked promptly and seriously, adhering strictly to procedures, regulations, and judging criteria. As a result, 183 outstanding works were submitted to the Final Judging Council.
This year, many joint and local journalists’ associations maintained high-quality submissions, notably the Joint Journalists’ Association of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Viet Nam Television, Voice of Viet Nam, Viet Nam News Agency, People’s Army Newspaper, Labour Newspaper, Tien Phong Newspaper, and Dan tri Newspaper.
Several magazines invested heavily in quality content. Local journalists’ associations in Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Quang Ninh, Nghe An, Da Nang, Binh Phuoc, and others also showed significant improvements in both content quality and presentation.
The National Press Awards are the highest annual honour in Vietnamese journalism, recognising outstanding journalistic works that contribute positively to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.
