Hieu is the second child in a farmer’s family with 3 sons. His elder brother Hoang Minh Khuong is a fourth-year student of Hanoi University of Science and Technology. His younger brother is a grade- 2 student. Understanding his family’s situation, Hieu is always a good boy and studies hard.

Ngo Thi Thao, Hieu’s mother cannot forget the nervous feeling on the first day taking him to school.

“After he went to class, I did not dare to leave because I was afraid he would get spinal pain for a long time sitting in class. Our family often sit together in free time when we encourage our son to learn from the good examples in society to overcome difficulties”, Thao emotionally said

Hieu is praised for his behaviours making his parents surprised. Sometimes his mother gives him money but he does not spend it. He uses the money he saved to buy presents for his family members on their birthday or special occasions.

As Hieu is a disadvantaged child, Thao and her husband are always busy to care for his meals, his sleep, his classes even long treatments in hospital. This mother does not go to work to spend her whole time taking care of the family.

Otherwise, Hieu and his brothers show great love for their parents and study hard. Particularly, Hieu is praised for his behaviours. He always makes his parents surprised. He has gained good results in study for many consecutive years. Sometimes, his mother gives him money but he does not spend it. He uses the money he saved to buy presents for his family members on their birthday or special occasions.

His parents bought him a wheelchair when he came to junior high school to facilitate his moving. His friends in Mai Trung junior high school always support Hieu. Thus, Hieu and his friends create the stories of beautiful friendship under the beloved school.

Moving forward together

The school drum is hit to alert finishing the final lessons. As usual, the close friend Nguyen Hong Quan quickly comes to take Hieu gently to the wheelchair. After helping Hieu to arrange his school bag, personal stuff and start his wheelchair, Quan is the last student leaving class.

This year, Quan volunteers to take Hieu into class. Although his home is not close to school, he always goes to class early. Once Hieu came late, Quan and his classmates felt very nervous.

“Despite his weak health, Hieu’s study result is second to none. Hieu is admired for his optimism and persistence for his dream”, Quan shared.

For the good results at all subjects, Hieu has to make much more efforts than his friends.

According to teacher Nguyen Thi Anh Xuan, the master of class 9A1, he has to be in hospital in the first term of grade 8 and the summer before grade 9. In spite of his illness, he always smiled as taking to his parents, teachers and friends encouraging them not to worry about him.

At the beginning of the academic year 2019-2020, the school carried out an examination to classify students. With his ability, Hoang Minh Hieu made his teachers and friends proud to gain high scores at Math, Literature and English ranked top in the school.

Hieu said, he likes reading books about good people, good deeds and life skills books. He will try his best to pursue his aspiration to work in information and technology making a small contribution to the society and reducing burden for his parents.
