Bac Giang approves smart city development scheme

(BGO)- The provincial People’s Committee of Bac Giang province has approved the province’s smart city development (SCD) scheme until 2025 with a vision to 2030. 

The SCD scheme of Bac Giang province is aimed at wide application of information technology (IT) and achievements of the 4.0 industrial revolution, making breakthroughs in innovation of management and governance methods of the agencies and public officials and contributing to enhancing management and leadership competency and efficiency of the government at all levels.

Besides, it will provide qualified and timely public services to serve citizens and enterprises to improve people’s quality of life and create transparent and favourable environment for strong investment attraction and development of the economic sectors to boost socio-economic growth in the province.

Accordingly, in period of 2021-2022, it is planned to build IT infrastructure in synchronous, modern, connected and safe manner meeting requirements for implementation of smart city model and e-government. In addition, it is necessary to develop centralized database systems, smart applications and services in the fields of planning and investment, finance, education, health and transportation to best serve citizens and enterprises in dealing with public services.

Developing IT infrastructure for smart cities to ensure effective implementation the projects on smart applications and improvement of management and governance capacity to serve citizens and enterprises. It is essential to set up centralized and integrated database for the management and governance of the province and different sectors.

In period of 2023- 2025, it is scheduled to complete integrated and modern IT and digital infrastructure to meet the requirements for smart city development, digital transformation, e-government and digital government. It is necessary to continue developing centralized database, smart applications and services in different sectors to serve citizens and enterprises. It is targeted to successfully establish a smart city in this period.

The province’s SMD must ensure good implementation of the national digital transformation programmes in the province while developing smart tourism to enhance management and governance competencies in tourism sector.

By 2030, the province will continue completing and expanding the projects implemented in the 2021-2025 period based on practical needs. Besides, it is planned to expand smart services in other sectors to comprehensively change the leadership and management methods of the agencies while supporting digital transformation and improvement of local government’s management and governance competencies and providing more smart services based on the smart city database platform.

People will benefit from SCD with improved quality of life, thereby developing initiative and active involvement in socio-economic development.
